Taken on my only visit to the New Brighton branch on the Wirral. Class 508 emus await their next workings. 508115 is on the left - I had just arrived from Hamilton Square on this unit. On the right are 508106/508116 which would shortly take me to West Kirby.
The station was opened by the Wirral Railway in 1888, and all services are now operated by Merseyrail. All trains operated by Merseyrail are still formed of Class 507/508 emus, the same units that were in use on 1985. Class 777 units, provided by Stadler Rail, are due to be introduced on the system in 2019.
