1957 BMW 507 vent. Superb aluminum sheet metal, and very very superb sports car. BMW had planned to sell thousands in the US, they ended handmaking 252 cars over 2 and 1/2 years total. They just cost too much, over $11,000 at one point......a pity

Clothed in an elegant body designed by Count Albrecht von Goetz, the BMW 507 was powered by the first German post-war all-aluminium eight cylinder engine. Its quintessentially 1950s style was every bit as appropriate to take Audrey Hepburn to Tiffany's for breakfast as it was to cover long continental journeys in sybaritic comfort. Elvis Presley owned this particular model!
The BMW 507 is a roadster that was produced by BMW from 1956 to 1959. Initially intended to be exported to the United States at a rate of thousands per year, it ended up being too expensive, resulting in a total production figure of 252 cars and heavy losses for BMW.
John Surtees was given a 507 by Count Agusta for winning the 1956 500cc World Motorcycle Championship on a MV Agusta. Surtees worked with Dunlop to develop disc brakes for the front wheels of the 507 and his 507 eventually had disc brakes on all four wheels. Surtees owned his 507 until his death. Following his death, the Surtees car sold for £3,809,500 plus commission in July 2018. The 507 owned by Albrecht von Goertz was sold for £2,367,000 plus commission at Bonhams on 1 December 2018.

Auf der Rückfahrt nach Stuttgart war VT12 507 "Stuttgarter Rössle" bei Wallersdorf auf der KBS 931 zu sehen.

Am 18.02. war ich hauptsächlich im Lautertal unterwegs, aber mein Freund und ich wollten testen, ob der erste Zug im Glantal fotografiert werden kann.
Bei -7 Grad hatten wir entsprechende Hoffnungen und zu unserem Glück hatte der Zug auch noch Verspätung.
So konnte 928 507 mit einem anderen Syltshuttle nach Kaiserslautern fotografiert werden.
Diese Aufnahme entstand im Frühjahr/Sommer 1984. Im Hintergrund zu erkennen ein MB trac 1500 aus dem selbigen Jahr.
Der MF 507 stammt aus dem Jahr 1972 und war hier zum letzten mal zu sehen bevor er Verkauft wurde.
Nachfolgemaschine war ein SNH 8060.
Wäre ja schön wenn es da schon ein I Phone gegeben hätte.

Am 3.2. brachte die V200 507 einen 628, den 628 479 nach Karsdorf ins Stillstandsmanagement. Bis Naumburg (Saale) hat Railadventure den Triebzug gebracht, dort übernahm dann die Trommel. Da EBS über keine Bremswagen verfügt, und der 628 ohne Bremse überführt wurde, nahm man kurzerhand einen ganzen Haufen Lokomotiven als Bremswagen: Die 232 690, 155 007, 156 003 und 143 124.
Da die Strecke zwischen Naumburg (Saale) und Wangen (Unstrut), an welcher auch Karsdorf liegt, aktuell wegen Bauarbeiten gesperrt ist fuhr man als Rangierfahrt durch das Baugleis bis nach Karsdorf. Durch den ungünstigen Sonnenstand war auch nur ein Bild möglich. Nach der Ankunft in Karsdorf wurde Kopf gemacht, und die "EBS-Lokparade" samt 628 auf das SSM-Gelände gezogen, wo erst der 628 abgestellt wurde und danach die Lokomotiven wieder auf dem Gelände der Fahrzeugwerke Karsdorf geparkt wurden.
