35mm, medium format, large format...today's interviewee takes it all in his stride, shooting developing and printing everything himself as he goes. Oh, and he's into year two of an ongoing large format 365 project. Someone keep this man in developer so we can see how far he goes.
It's time to...

Seriously, what is it about Large Format photography that makes me want to literally dive in to an image? (I can’t swim, so the feeling is doubly strange for me).
With that in mind, I felt it time to have another LF photographer join us and share his thoughts on film photography. Today...

I have been tray developing my first test shots with 4X5 negs. which is a pain.
I purchased an Elkay 4X5 tank on ebay and tried it out with this image. It worked out fine so I will be able to develop in daylight ... yeah !

Today we’re sitting down with Marcus Carlsson, Swedish large format aficionado, sometime digital shooter, obsessive DIY-ist and more recently, app developer.
We’ll be telling you more about his Analogue App a little later. For now, let’s see what he has to say for himself.
Over ...

If you believe when today’s photographer says he’s only been shooting film for the past four or five years, you’re in the minority. His work is beautiful, uncluttered and brings me wonderful feelings of peace.
There’s more from the man himself below, so over to you...

My second pinhole camera shot from the World Pinhole Day straight out of the camera and Mr. Stasi's lab. Think I got exposure pretty okey, had plan to capture more of the details in the tree and as such it is a bit over overexposed. But it is a bit fascinating how clearly details may come out of these no glass cameras. Why, it is a pinhole surveillance shot, the license plate number is clearly readable!
Yea, yea, composition sucks but give me a break, there is no viewfinder here and it is only my second attempt! May be crazy enough to pursue this and get some experience... And I was running late, not sure what Mr. Stasi does to photographers not returning their borrowed cameras in time on Pinhole Day, not sure I would like to learn...

I like taking pinhole photos of huge building. This was taken by handmade pinhole camera with 4x5 format film. (5sec exposure, FUJI NC 160film, Naniwa color kit N Developer)
I am taking Large Format Photography this quarter at the Art Institute. We use 4x5 format film. Large format gives you amazing detail and incredible movements that you are unable to get with a normal DLSR.
For this image I used a back rise of 60mm, because I was above the subject it allowed me to appear level with her. I used a front tilt down of 15mm. This helped me change my plane of focus. I then used a front swing to the left which allowed me to focus across the plane. To amplify the focus I did a back swing to the right allowing me to get both sides of the plane in focus. Stretching the plane of focus across her face and her hands. To accentuate the depth of field I had an f/stop of 8 at 1/2 of a second.
