Mit EC 194 in die Schweiz war 218 463 am vergangenem Sonntag nach Lindau unterwegs und konnte bei Wiedemannsdorf abgelichtet werden.

Omdat het met ingang van de nieuwe dienstregeling gedaan is met de inzet van de 218 in dubbeltractie op het traject van Stuttgart naar Ulm ben ik twee dagen rond Geislingen an der Steige op pad geweest om deze treinen vast te leggen. Per dag zijn er in theorie twee treinparen te bewonderen, namelijk IC 118/119 van en naar Innsbruck via Lindau, en IC 2012/2013 van en naar Oberstdorf. Op de eerste druilerige dag kwam er in de praktijk niet overdreven veel terecht van deze theorie. Twee treinen reden met de 218ers waarvan de eerste met flinke vertraging, één trein was uitgevallen en de laatste reed met een 101 (wel de 101 066 “Einziganders”), maar door wederom flinke vertraging was deze trein qua licht alleen nog maar vast te leggen tijdens de stop te Göppingen.

De tweede dag was bijna strak blauw met een enkel fotowolkje. Mooi natuurlijk, maar in dit jaargetijde geeft dat wel een uitdaging tussen de heuvels... Als tweede van de vier treinen zou net na het half twee IC119 van Stuttgart Hbf naar Innsbruck Hbf langs moeten komen. (Normaal gezien vertrekt deze trein uit Dortmund, maar aangezien de tegentrein de dag er voor was uitgevallen was de Oostenrijkse wagenset niet beschikbaar vanaf Dortmund. Als deze trein op tijd zou rijden zou deze mooi gefotografeerd kunnen worden vanaf het bekende fotopunt op de Mühltalfelsen, waarvandaan je een mooi zicht hebt op het spoor onder je. Als de trein op tijd zou rijden zou de schaduw nog meevallen, en was er ook tijd om naar een volgend fotopunt voor de tegentrein te gaan, waarvan de doorkomst een half uur later gepland stond.

De trein was met een minuut of 5 vertraging vertrokken uit Stuttgart, maar moest vanwege een technisch probleem aan de kant bij Süßen. De vertraging liep op, de schaduw ook en de tegentrein reed nog op tijd… Uiteindelijk kwam IC119 met 30 minuten vertraging de helling op getrokken door de 218 463 en de blauwe 218 054 van Press.
