Little guy makes the sunflower look BIG! :0)
We drove out to the farmers fields in Denver. They'd planted more corn than sunflowers this year.....and.....custom homes had popped up everywhere. According to the sign, a two acre plot is $45k, a bargain in this market!!!

At least this photo came out OK. The MoT check site says it had done 45k at its last test, and like the Maestro that amount is only going up a small amount each year so it may be genuine?
It's a shame I hadn't used the Sunny for this journey, would have been good to get a shot of them together.
Seen in the Shepherds Bush area, one of the roughest Panda's i've seen that's still going, with an MOT its done 45k miles.
A previous spot, nice to see it again, however looking a bit more used than last time. Pleased to say it passed its MOT today. Twice this year though? It only does around 1k miles each year now and is sitting on just 45k.

A forlorn looking brown Mini Metro - as seen in the absolute middle of nowhere in Lincolnshire.
MoT expired August 2013 with 45k on the clock.
This rare tansy beetle (Chrysolina graminis) is bizarre because:
1. Found only on a 45k length of the banks of the River Ouse. between York and Selby, it refuses to eat anything but tansy leaves - which, (thanks to grazing animals and invasive plants, like Himalayan balsam) are few and far between.
2. It refuses to fly, so unless it can reach supplies of tansy plants on it's little legs it goes hungry.
3. Which may be why it often eats its own eggs
4. It falls off the tansy plants into the river with monotonous regularity.
5. Then, if none of the above finish it off, it's bright iridescent green carapace makes it visible to every passing bird.
HMF 45K came out of Dagenham in January 1972 as a Ford Cortina 2000 GT. It then went to "Race Proved" to be turned into a "Savage" by Jeff Uren and his team. There the car was fitted with a Weslake tuned 190bhp 3-litre Essex.
The car was on display at the 50th Gloucestershire Vintage & Country Extravaganza on 2 August 2025.
I'm not sure if this counts as a macro...I had my camera set on close up and If I'd been any closer to the water I would have needed a submarine...

The so-called 'Jewel of York' is this beautiful, iridescent but rare tansy beetle (Chrysolina graminis) found only on a 45k length of the banks of the River Ouse. between York and Selby. Endangered because:
1. Only eats tansy leaves which are also endangered due to grazing animals and invasive plants like Himalayan balsam
2. Needs 6 sq metre clumps in walkable distance because it won't fly
3. Tends to eat its own eggs
4. Regularly falls off the tansy into the river.
The words 'panda' and' deerhound' spring to mind, lol
No this wasn't photographed years ago, but rather a few weeks ago, proving that it's still possible to find these rare 80s Hondas (well not really, this is supposedly the only one registered). I'd love to own one of these second generation Accords at some point, even if the only ones left are all autos. 45k miles as of its last MOT, and it's coming up soon so hopefully it sticks around for yet another year.
One of three R5s I counted though I'll bet there was another one or two hidden in a corner at the show.

Its great to see a base spec MK2 Polo still going in daily use! Its starting to show some signs of rust, but other than that it looks smart with all 4 mudflaps complete.
Its only done 45k miles and is doing around 10k a year. MOT history looks pretty good too.

I'd forgotten all about this local 213. I've been seeing it around very sporadically for several years now. This was probably the first time in at least 2 years that I've seen it. It's only done 45k miles, but seems to have had a lot of rust-related issues in recent MOT's.
Nice to see the original Dutton Forshaw plates and window sticker.
Parked outside a local garage so I'd assume it's in for some work. I did the check on this the other day and if I'm right it had under 45K on it at it's last MOT. It was registered on valentines day 1991, perhaps a valentines present for someone?! Overall it did look pretty solid.
Salcombe Yawls are 16ft wooden one-design day boats.
Made in Salcombe and raced in Salcombe since 1898 (yes 1898), although the rig was updated 60 or 70years ago.
A few new yawls are built each year, numbers are now up to almost 200 and the class has a healthy local following.
They're not cheap (@£45K ready to sail) as they are hand-built but they sail exquisitely and do make a lovely sight under canvas.

Mid-90s Escort Cabrio seen in E.London, these are now a rare sight to see, this one is taxed and MOt'd to the middle of 2024 and has only done 45k miles.

Ive been away for what seems like ages, just havent really touched the camera for like 3 months. Its nice to know its something we can all go back to though :) This was from a stop-over I had in New York on the way to Florida. Early sunrise from the Jersey side of the Hudson.... wouldnt have wanted to be anywhere else!

Despite sitting in the showroom of a former Peugeot dealer I don't think this rather immaculate Escort RS Turbo is for sale, but I could be wrong. The last MOT said 8k on the clock but I think it's had the clocks changed as it had 45k in 2019.
I was shocked to see my first one of these when it parked up. No MOT history before 2018. 45k miles.
