Le huard n’est pas un canard

Parce qu’ils vivent sur l’eau, qu’ils ont les pattes palmées, et qu’ils plongent comme les canards, nous croyons à tort que ce sont des canards. Or il n’en est rien. En fait l’anatomie des huards est différente de celle des canards : leurs pattes sont localisées plus à l’arrière que celles des canards, plus centrales pour les canards, ils sont plus immergés que les canards et sont beaucoup plus longs.

Le language du huard

Le huard possède quatre différents cris : l’appel plaintif, tel celui d’un loup, qu’ils utilisent pour appeler leur partenaire; le cri trémolo, qui ressemble à un rire et qui est souvent utilisé en vol; le cri tyrolien, uniquement utilisé par le mâle, pour défendre son territoire. Si vous êtes en bateau et que vous entendez ce cri, c’est que le nid est proche. Déplacez-vous ! Puis finalement le petit cri de proximité avec les jeunes huards de l’année. C’est un cri parental.

CSX GP39-2 4310 sits idle at the north end of Moncrief yard as CSX 3319 backs their coal train into the yard.

A MRL ballast train thunders through the Jefferson River Canyon by Cardwell. It was hot this day, was so tempted to jump in the river. I've never shot a train along this line, seeing them load at Pipestone was a welcome site, especially when they said the had six cars left to load and would be going towards Logan shortly.

We chased the train east, and got another shot at WIllow Creek where I tripped and nearly tore my testicles off on a barbed wired fence. Thankfully the only damage was a small tear in my shorts.

I can’t determine the scale to palpate this grandness; in those few moments with this splendor rather someone’s past worries can be momentarily faded away! Before taking this photo I closed my eyes to invigorate my senses and imagination!
