Ook de in blokafstand op de Desiro volgende Thalys werd hier vereeuwigd, al was het licht minder intens omdat de zon wat last had met een condenswolk van een vliegtuig.

By the way, dit is dezelfde trein als diegene die ik een week ervoor in de gietende regen heb kunnen vastleggen... Ik prefereer dan toch deze weersomstandigheden ;-)

Hierna nam ik even afscheid van mijn broer: ik moest namelijk nog vlees gaan halen voor het middageten en had daarvoor een bestelling gereserveerd om 9u30 in Halle. Ik had beter wel een half uur later afgesproken, want door de heen en weerrit naar de winkel en thuis miste ik de twee TGV treinen die rond 10 uur in Halle doorkwamen.

Ik had wel met Wouter afgesproken dat ik hem zou contacteren wanneer ik thuis opnieuw vertrok. Zo gezegd zo gedaan en dus vertrok ik om 10u terug van huis naar de Rue de Ham in Bierghes (niet te verwarren met Bierges bij Waver).

And a couple of minutes later the Thalys to Paris followed the Desiro to Denderleeuw. A nice view with all the trees in the background ;-)

As I still had to make one course for the weekend I left Wouter and the railway line for one hour, thus missing two diverted TGV trains. So I am looking forward to see these photos from my brother ;-)

Emperor Goose enjoying the sun

The emperor goose (Anser canagicus), also known as the beach goose[6] or the painted goose,] is a waterfowl species in the family Anatidae, which contains the ducks, geese, and swans. In the winter, the emperor goose lives in mudflats and coasts in Alaska and occasionally Canada and the contiguous United States. In the summer, it migrates northerly several hundred miles to arctic and sub-arctic climates, where older individuals breed monogamously. Listed as near threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the species' population is declining due to threats such as pollution, hunting, and climate change.

Chesapeake & Delaware RP-2 passes the URHS in Boonton on the return trip from the Totawa Industrial with leased NJT GP40-2 #4302 leading (1/4/24).

CAT power helps the new engines up the hill on the Midway Sub at Lexington.

An odd sight for sure to see a NJ Transit GP40 shoving into an industrial spur. C&D RP-2 drills the spur for Jan Global Transport Solutions in Dover, NJ, with leased NJ Transit GP40-2 #4302 (1/4/24).

Thalys train set 4302 prepared for the merger with Eurostar, speeding between Leuven/Louvain and Brussels in the THA 9448 service from Köln Hbf to Paris Nord.

It's 9:00 am and Reading & Northern #2102 heads north with 18 coaches in tow for Jim Thorpe, PA on 9/3/22 with its fourth Iron Horse Ramble.

Vandaag trokken mijn oudste zoon en mezelf er nog eens op uit: bestemming was het Vinnemeer in Zoutleeuw, waar we tijdens de voormiddag de tijd namen om te wandelen en vogels te spotten.

Alhoewel de dag mistig begon, kwam de zon er vol door rond de middag.

Dat leek me ideaal om op de terugweg nog een kleine détour te maken naar een spoorlijn en mijn oog viel daarbij op de hogesnelheidslijn van Leuven naar Luik, waar we toch zouden langsrijden op onze weg naar huis.

Natuurlijk maakte de blauwe lucht plaats voor sluiers… waarom kan het niet eens zonnig zijn van in de ochtend tot de avond?

Toch bleef ik staan en kwam de zon terug sterker door de wolken toen de Eurostar richting Duitsland in mijn beeld opdaagde.

Zeker en vast een plek om te onthouden, aangezien de parallelle autosnelweg hier bijna niet opvalt. Bedankt aan L2527 .be om dit plekje een aantal maanden geleden te tonen!

An Eurostar train set in Ruby colour scheme is passing Boutersem on Thursday the 9th of May 2024, heading to the next stop in Liège Guillemins. The final destination of this train will be Essen Hbf in Germany.
