In der Regel bringen Betreiberwechsel im Nahverkehr aus Fotografensicht eine Verschlechterung. Das Gegenteil ist allerdings auf der Strecke Regensburg - Hof der Fall, wo nach Übernahme durch DB Regio die Baureihe 218 zurückgekehrt ist. Am 20.01.2024 klappte auch bei mir endlich das erste Bild dieser neuen Verkehre, nachdem es bisher wettertechnisch oder zeitlich nicht passte. Einfach machte es einem das Wetter an diesem Morgen aber auch nicht. Das Wetterradar zeigte von Regensburg bis Hof nämlich eine geschlossene Hochnebeldecke, nur rund um Marktleuthen waren Lücken zu sehen. Ob das wirklich stimmt? Ich riskierte es und fuhr dorthin. Tatsächlich stand ich hier ungefährdet in der Sonne, während im Hintergrund die Hochnebelfelder waberten. 218 414 zog den RE 4859 mit Laufweg von Hof nach München, in Regensburg wird der Zug dann von einer E-Lok übernommen. Im Hintergrund grüßt der 826 Meter hohe Große Kornberg.
