A tree that has fascinated me for a while now, ever since I first noticed it in a followers stream. Having now found this tree, I hope to return with a tripod...

NJ Transit's latest heritage unit was very briefly placed on display outdoors at the Meadowlands Maintenance Complex. After a quick photo op 4101 was safely tucked away back indoors. This unit represents the NJ DOT "bluebird" era. Kudos to all those who made this happen!

B&O Chessie Cat 4101 leads RS97 up the grade at Battin Road at Rock Glen, NY on July 11, 1986. Exactly 1 month later the scene looked like this in the early days of the Rochester & Southern: www.flickr.com/photos/85501582@N03/41719791530/in/album-7...

It was a very quiet start to the morning until this little beauty put in an appearance again.....

Four Chessie Cats lead RS-97 at DL&W Jct. near Pavilion, NY on July 11, 1986. View is from the ex DL&W bridge, which is now long gone. Looks like engineer Keith Fischer and brakeman Mark Gawel in the lead unit. There was only 10 days left before the Borg takeover.

CN Toronto - Windsor train #145 at Crumlin Road, on the eastern outskirts of London. Usually formed of 'Tempo' equipment, this weekend consist has CN GP9s 4101 and 4105 with a steam generator car. CN's passenger-geared GP9s were not equipped with steam generators, but had steam lines only.

While driving to an annual fishing trip, I routed myself through Breckenridge, MN and was pleased to find a RRV&W train tied down alongside some MOW working on one of the yard tracks. I couldn't stay long, but it looked like the hub of this regional could be a flurry of activity.

These trains race through the Columbia River Gorge! I wanted to get a shot of the train through the car portal, but it came too fast and I couldn't get my camera focused fast enough.

Certainly one of the more scenic areas I've ever shot... it can be pretty tough railfanning if you don't have access to the crystal ball.
