Zu den wohl ungewöhnlichsten Anschlussgleisen im Hexagon gehört zweifelsohne dasjenige des Lafarge-Zementwerks im südfranzösischen Port-la-Nouvelle (vgl. www.flickr.com/photos/132444999@N07/31954363012/in/album-... ). Es zweigt am nordwestlichen Bahnhofskopf von den Hauptgleisen ab und führt in einem engen Bogen mitten hinein in die Lagunenlandschaft der Étangs, vorbei an Fischerhütten und deren in buntesten Farben schillernden Booten. Als Lagerraum hat - wenn ich das Objekt in Bildmitte richtig deute - sogar der Aufbau eines ehemaligen Kühlwagens in dem illustren Sammelsurium überlebt...
Nachdem die ITE (das steht für "Installation Terminale Embranchée", das französische Äquivalent zum Anschlussgleis) über ein Jahrzehnt ungenutzt und dem Verfall und Bewuchs preisgegeben war, erweckte Lafarge sie Ende 2016 wieder zum Leben. Hintergrund war die zeitgleiche Reduzierung der Unternehmensaktivität am Standort La Couronne bei Angoulême, wo seit Anfang 2017 nur noch die Zementmühle (Broyage) zur Zerkleinerung des bereits zuvor gebrannten Zementklinkers in Betrieb ist. Mit der Durchführung der zwei- bis dreimal pro Woche stattfindenden Transporte ist Europorte betraut, wobei vor den 1.500 Tonnen schweren Zügen aufgrund der nötigen Rangierarbeiten an den Endbahnhöfen - u.a. auf "unserem" Anschlussgleis - trotz des komplett elektrifizierten Hauptlaufs eine der beindruckenden Euro 4000-Großdieselloks des Unternehmens zum Einsatz gelangt.
Am Morgen des 23. September 2021 war €4034 pünktlich mit dem Leerzug 60201 (Angoulême - Port-la-Nouvelle) am Zielbahnhof eingetroffen. Keine zehn Minuten nach der Ankunft - die Rangiercrew war extrem fix - drückte sie die Wagenschlange bereits quer durch die Lagune in Richtung der Beladestelle auf dem Werksgelände, wo ebenso rasch die Beladung mit Klinker abgewickelt werden und der Vollzug sich noch im Laufe des Vormittags wieder auf die Rückreise machen wird.
Drie keer per week rijdt Europorte een steenslagtrein van Lessines naar een Franse bestemming (zie meerdere bestemming voorbij komen). De stoere Euro 4000 met de opvallende zelflossers, type Fanps, maken het een geliefde trein bij vele hobbyisten.
Op 25 maart 2022 werd een poging ondernomen om deze trein te fotografen. Aangezien we in de buurt waren voor de Quenast steenslagtrein, konden we dit mooi combineren.
Europorte 4005 met beladen steenslagtrein uit Lessines naar Frankrijk, passeert Rebaix met een flinke stofwolk voor de lokale bewoners.

Flagowa maszyna Enei wyjeżdża z zakładu, aby wykonać manewry z gruszkami z gipsem, znajdującymi się pod chłodnią kominową. Oprócz powyższej TEM2-047 tego dnia na "gips" pojechały TEM2-028 i TEM2-064 czyli wszystkie klasyczne Walentyny znajdujące się na zakładzie. Na termometrze -15°.
CN only rostered two GP35s. Here one of them, 4000, in tandem with SD40 5014 are in charge of a CN westbound freight near Dorion, Quebec.

Mientras bajabamos de Burgos habiendo fotografiado el "bobinero atrapado" y el último Arco que recorre España, Ingmar recibió un aviso de este tren. Para asegurarnos la foto establecimos que yo me quedaría en El Casar para almenos tener una foto (aunque no fuese muy buena) y Ángel y el echarían el fotón en Valdemoro, tal y como hicieron pero arriesgandose a perderlo, aunque por suerte no fue así. Éxito!

There are approximately 4,000 places to stop on the drive from Te Anau to Milford, and this is one of them. It’s kind of a must-stop! The scene is crazy-powerful, and it changes throughout the day. I’ve noticed sometimes in the morning it is foggy and hard to see, but it’s still interesting even then. When planning car-trips in New Zealand, it’s best just to add a few extra hours into the experience!
Chakrapani Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, India. In the temple, Lord Vishnu appears in the form of a discus or Chakra to put down the pride of Surya(the Sun), who subsequently became his devotee
The temple is noted for its exquisite pillars. The presiding deity, Chakrapani has 8 arms. There is a bronze image of king Serfoji II worshipping the lord as he is said to have been cured an illness by the grace of this God. A panchamukha(five-faced) Hanuman is erected in the prakaram (outer precincts of the temple)
In 1620, when Govinda Dikshitar, divan-administrator for the Nayaks, constructed the Ramaswamy Temple, Kumbakonam, he added a commercial corridor between the new temple and the older Chakrapani temple
This temple is situated on the southern bank of Cauvery in Kumbakonam Railway station, Thanjavur district, Tamilnadu. It is the second Vaishnavite temple in Kumbakonam town. Here the main deity is Chakraraja and Sudharshana Chakra.
The Eastern and Western entrances of this temple are known as “Thatchinaya Vayil” and “Utharavana Vayil” respectively and outer Prakara of this temple is made in the form of balcony. Agampara Vinayakar, Panchamuga Aancheneyar and Vijayavalli are the important idols located in this temple.

This is a 380MP image of the Milky Way over The Pinnacles Desert in Western Australia. This image was taken during the Southern Hemisphere summer months when the core is not visible at all during night time hours as our planet has moved to such a position during its orbit that the sun is now directly inbetween us and the core so during the night we're actually looking away from the core. This part of the night sky still contains some interesting features, here you can see the magenta coloured Carina Nebula and the dark Coal Sack Nebula just below it almost in the centre of the image. You can also see some bands of green airglow above the horizon.
