Pacific poison oak!

The western variety.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toxicodendron_diversilobum.

"Like other members of the genus Toxicodendron, T. diversilobum causes itching and allergic rashes in many humans after contact by touch or smoke inhalation. "

I think I am not allergic to it, but I don't want to 'test the water"!

Not a four-leaf among them all. Shamrocks have three leaves and are the standard, common form of clover, whereas four-leaf clovers are rare genetic mutations of the white clover with a probability of about 1 in 10,000.

Shooting something entirely different a few weeks ago, these 3 leaves, all that were left on a branch of a tree caught my eye. A strong wind was blowing at the time, so a fast shutter speed was required to freeze them as well as minimize the DOF.

See where this picture was taken. [?]

(from Irish sayings)

Good St. Patrick travelled far, to teach God's Holy Word

And when he came to Erin's sod, a wondrous thing occurred

He plucked a shamrock from the earth and held it in His hand

To symbolise the Trinity that all might understand

The first leaf for the Father

And the second for the Son

The third leaf for the Holy Spirit

All three of them in one.

(as a "Murphy" myself, I can especially relate to this one!)

MURPHY's LAW

Nothing is as easy as it looks.

Everything takes longer than you expect.

And if anything can go wrong,

It will, at the worst possible moment.

(...and, since I married an Irishman...this one ...LOL)

There are only three kinds of Irish men who can't understand women—

young men,

old men,

and men of middle age.

Warmer weather and sunnier days means that the weeds are springing up everywhere. I searched through this patch of clover for a 4-leafed version, but didn't find one - I guess I'll have to continue to make my own luck !

Playing with triangles ... this is made out of 34 9-ball triangles total.

(3 x (5 x 9-ball triangles = pentagon) + 5 x 9-ball triangle tips to form stars)) + (3 x 9-ball triangles = added to two outer tips) + (1 x 9-ball triangle = added to the top center)

Construction Notes:

1) Construct 3 stars out of 9-ball triangles

2) Connect two sets of tips together

3) Connect the 3rd side so that one 3-sided pyramid is pointing up in the center.

4) Add a middle triangle between the two triangle outside arms

5) Fold up the outside arms till both sides of the triangles meet along the 4-ball edges ... this forms a triangle opening on the top.

6) Take the last 9-ball triangle and close up the top hole.

can you find it?

I used to have a real knack for finding 4-leaf clovers. Just walking through a lawn or field, and I'd stop , and there's one. Or a handful. I found lots of fivers too, a few sixes and sevens. I think my record was an 8-leafer.

Crinkle Cut Leaf.

I saw this leaf and was amazed by the crinkle cut look it had...

I loved the vibrant zingy green against the dark green background.
