Another hummer going for a spot on the feeder at work. I counted 8 on the feeder yesterday. They're still putting down about a half liter per day. 😉

Swallow-tailed Hummingbird, Campylopterus macrourus simoni, 15 - 18 cm. / 5.9 - 7.1 in. COMMON in lowland foresting mostly open, lightly-wooded areas, forest edge parks, gardens and other man-made habitats. Second subspecies seen.

The westbound KYLPHPH trundles through the northern Kansas fields with a pair of SD45 bodies leading the cars from the BNSF interchange at Courtland. This crew is has been OD since 0430 and is a couple miles from the crew change.
