This Southbound off the Sioux Line would be the last train of the day. Coincidentally, 3985 was the first T4 I ever shot back when they were brand new.

Detail of Union Pacific 3985, a 1943 Challenger steam locomotive currently undergoing restoration at the Cheyenne Roundhouse.
"Time Machine": Baldwin Locomotive Works #26 backs out from her stall inside the former Lackawanna Railroad roundhouse at the Steamtown National Historic Site. In merely seconds with a steam locomotive like #26 visitors are transported back 70 years when these mechanically engineered pieces of motive power were the space ships of their time and children didn't think of going to the moon, but instead dreamed of sitting in that right hand seat.
I have rescanned some pictures of a Rocky Mountain Railroad Club excursion from Oct 1984. Some of the worst conditions I have ever had for getting pictures on any fan trip.

Attualmente è la sede diplomatica e ufficio stampa della Provincia Regionale di Palermo.
In 1994 I recieve a hot tip from a customer at the camera store I worked at in Ventura, Ca. We'd been discussing his pictures when he mention the 3985 was coming to Southern California. Plans were made to set out and meet the 3985 which did not disappoint however, I cannot remember where, between Ventura and Los Angeles, these pictures were taken. Not many railfans turned out at this location but I am sure along the 3985's route many did.
