The osprey or more specifically the western osprey (Pandion haliaetus) — also called sea hawk, river hawk, and fish hawk — is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey with a cosmopolitan range. It is a large raptor, reaching more than 60 cm (24 in) in length and 180 cm (71 in) across the wings. It is brown on the upperparts and predominantly greyish on the head and underparts.

On a misty winter afternoon, GLC 394 leads the Osmer turn through the Kent elevator complex at Cohoctah. Like the rest of the GP35 fleet, the 394 has operated on these rails since its delivery to the original Ann Arbor in 1964 and features Type-B Alco trucks. Unlike the rest of the GP35 fleet, the 394 was given a new and eye-popping coat of Tuscola & Saginaw Bay ‘TSBY’ paint—an homage to successor to the Annie, and the direct predecessor to its current operator, Great Lakes Central. Since the Watco takeover, the GP35 fleet has been shuffled into retirement, resale, or storage, and the 394 followed suit only weeks after this photo. 394 lasted less than a year on GLC rails in its new paint (sat in storage for many years prior) and brought a colorful end to 60 years of GP35 legacy on the former Ann Arbor.

CN 3157, CN 3058, IC 1037, CN 5644, CN 2229, CN 5776 and CN 3080 as the DPU lead CN 394 over the Fairchild Creek Bridge between Brantford and Copetown as the fall colours start to emerge.

CN 394 rolls towards Powerline Road behind CN 3015, CN 3939 and ONT 1853 (ex NS).

Timing was perfect for this as I was on my way to work, thus ending my summer vacation.
