Lophodytes cucullatus
The Hooded Merganser is at home on small lakes, pools and fast flowing water, with a marked preference for emergent vegetation. Breeding in North America, it migrates short distances to stay on open water.
Very occasionally, a vagrant appears in the UK.

"Arriving on the job": Trainmen Brian Wowak and Ryan Dively arrive to the roundhouse floor to start a new day along the former Lackawanna with Baldwin Locomotive Works #26. It is generally customary for the crew to meet prior to pulling the engine out of the roundhouse to ensure a safe and productive day on the high iron.
I spotted this female batman hoverly (Myathropa florea) on a tree stump in Tyresta National Park.
Batman? Yes, Batman. Look at the top of the thorax. That black marking looks quite a loot like Batman's symbol - which is why it has been given that name.
