So here is my 1/36 scale F-22 Raptor.

I have been thinking about building a Raptor for some time now, I have dropped the idea several times because of it's scheme pattern.

Not that it's a complex pattern (only two tones) but because it's there.

i do prefer non-pattern scheme on my LEGO planes If it's possible, because they are hard to depict in bricks.

But no Raptor without its two-tone scheme and the relatively new wedge-tiles really helped me alot here.

The Fossdyke Roman Canal in betweek Torksey and Saxilby in West Lindsey, Lincolnshire.

The Fossdyke Canal is generally considered to have been constructed during the Roman period, but there is a case for an early medieval date. It connects Lincoln and the Witham to the Trent. Its cutting would have involved the straightening and rerouting of the River Till. A 2005 borehole suggested that the River Till may have become redundant before the 12th century, but no firm date.

The first documented work on the Fossdyke was when it was deepened in 1121. It was Crown property until James II presented it to the city of Lincoln by an act of 1671. There were frequent problems of flooding and silting but its use increased after improvements were made by Richard Ellison to whom it was leased in 1741, and son Richard after 1743.

It was deepened in the early 19th century and in 1840. The Fossdyke was used at this time for the transport to Lincoln of coal, lime, cotton, linen and woollen goods, timber and pottery etc. and for the moving to the towns of Lancashire and Yorkshire of cattle, wool, wheat, barley and flour. Craft were sailing barges, horse-drawn and steam packets. The GNR took over the lease in 1846.

Commercial water transport gradually declined with increasing competition from railways but survived longer on the Fossdyke than on Witham. Barkers and Lee Smith were last Lincoln users of river barges, and the last water transport company was Furleys of Gainsborough in 1972.

"S/N" is the aircraft's serial number. "L/N" is a Boeing code denoting what order the airframe came off the production line. "F/N" refers to an individual airline's fleet numbering system. Not all airlines use a fleet number; not all manufacturers use a line number.

I recently (i.e. last night) faced an onerous problem: in one of the panels of the Ugly Duckling, I had to fill a one plate thick gap that was not a whole number of studs in length. Up until recently, these brackets where the only way I know of to do that--the corner part is one plate by one plate. However, being giant brackets they are hard to use in small spaces. In my case that wouldn't have worked at all, because the entire thickness of the panel at that point was one stud + one plate. I found a solution with the newish triangle tiles. I was at first annoyed that these tiles have the corners clipped off, but then I realized that it's roughly half a plate that is clipped off. That means that in cases where just the edge is showing, we can chain these things together to fill a gap that is one plate thick by a fractional number of studs. The first frame shows an example, viewed from the side as intended. Note that there are four plates SNOTed in the middle, not the usual five plates that would give you a two stud gap. The second frame shows it from the top. The third frame shows how the length is one plate less than 8 studs. The fourth frame shows the actual panel from the Ugly Duckling where I applied this. I've exploited this in numerous other places. Moving them a plate farther apart creates a 1 plate x 1 plate gap. I used that here on the black pipes in the top right, creating a gap exactly the right size for a 4735 robot arm to pass through, which makes an attachment point for the pipes much less distracting than a bar clip.

The process to make this picture was semi-random. Each individual tile (192 in total), made of a 4x4 plate and 8 tiles 2x2 triangular 35787, has been assembled randomly. Then I placed them on the canvas, trying to match them as much as possible. Kind of like a jigsaw puzzle, but where you don't know what it's supposed to look like.

The model has been designed so that I can take it apart quite easily (at least removing the tiles from the canvas is easy, but I'd still have to take them apart) and create something new, so there'll be more tesselations in the future.

A render of my design for an American Car & Foundry 70-ton covered hopper, this one featuring open sides. I'm particularly excited for this as it's my first design in a long time, and I'm looking forward to getting it and it's closed-sided sibling into bricks.

This is also the first design I intend to sell as well.

This design still has some details to address, particularly at the triangular cutouts. There's a tile (35787) that works perfectly, but no plate with the same cutout to go behind it, thus there's currently a gap of 1 plate.

Come?
