“Final Delivery”
Arriving at the tired out Nemiskam (alt. Nemiscam) School in wintery Southern Alberta I was startled by crunching footsteps behind me in the hard packed snow. I met a UPS delivery person, holding packages from Canadian Tire, he mentioned they were tree lighting and decorative products for the schools festivities. In a ghost town no doubt!
Given it was Sunday and the decaying building essentially has no electricity (electrical code), I blurted “Sir, they haven’t had this whine here since 1959.” It was game over in the fifties when the school closed. But I thought I’d play along. Amused I turned away to reach for my iPhone7, thinking I’d pop a surprise delivery selfie and post to my Instagram feed.
I quickly turned and said to the gentleman….smile…..
“Sir…..Sir……where did you disappear....…….um Sir…..”
He’d vanished. I turned back towards the school, startled, and soon realized, who’s gonna believe this.
I’m uploading this image rather than the non-existent UPS selfie.
Wishing everyone a Safe and Generous Holiday Season, inspiring visual detours and adventures….. Merry Christmas~

Taken at the Sepulveda basin wildlife preserve in the San Fernando valley ( Los Angeles, CA). It's surprising to find such a piece of wilderness right near the 405 - if you live in the area I recommend visiting for a nice nature walk.
Late afternoon brings us to the former Lehigh Valley mainline as Reading & Northern Pacific #425 races towards Penobscot Yard near Mountain Top, PA on July 9, 2022 outside of CP Bergers. In full stride passing former LVRR telegraph poles, the former Gulf Mobile & Northern Pacific displays roughly (and some) what she was designed for: first rate, fast paced passenger service.
