This female merganser is enjoying resting on the Black River possibly after a long flight in last night on its migration north. She is being escorted by a drake on their way to their breeding grounds.

On the main south, Railpower’s CLF2 with 4908 & CLP9 struggle up the grade at Goondah with loaded Southern Shorthaul Railroad grain train #3242 from Grong Grong to Allied Mills in Maldon.

Green Sandpiper
Scientific name: Tringa ochropus
The green sandpiper is a very rare breeding bird in the UK, and is mainly seen on migration in autumn. Look out for it feeding around marshes, flooded gravel pits and rivers. It even likes sewage works!

Na het bezoek aan Dagebüll werd snel vertrokken naar de hoofdlijn richting Hamburg. De Urlaub Express zou gaan komen maar voordat deze aan de beurt was kwam eerste een diesel Vectron van Autozug Sylt voorbij. Leuk om deze buiten zijn inzetgebied vast te kunnen leggen ondanks dat het een losse loc betreft.
