2G64 Hadfield to Manchester Piccadilly. Class 323 is a fleet of electric multiple unit (EMU) passenger trains built between 1992 and 1995. Known for their rapid acceleration and a distinctive "musical" whine from their traction electronics, they have spent 30 years serving major commuter hubs in Birmingham and Manchester.
A regular move from Hope Earl's Sidings to Basford Hall is the 0K98 14:03 Hope (Earles Sidings) Fhh to Crewe Bas Hall S.S.M. On Saturday 29th August, the consist was headed by 66538 with (front to back) 66620, 66607, 66622, 66616, 66613 and 70017. Seven engines, not bad going. This was running slightly early, as is often the case recently, and was going at a fair good speed too, although it was only about 5 minutes behind a 323232 on a local Picc - Crewe stopper service.

Having completed 2 sides of the Dinting triangle Northern Rail 323232 arrives with the 2G57 1414 Hadfield - Manchester Piccadilly.
Network Rail have put there marker down for the up and coming engineering work on the line this weekend and a few to follow.
Dinting oozes railway history , out of sight to the left is Platform 1 , rarely used and the site of Dinting signalbox . Platform 1 was also the passing place for the former Woodhead Line with its gantries looking like they originate from the days they used to carry 1500V wires. Behind is Dinting viaduct and many a book contains pictures of Class 76's in multiple rumbling over with loaded coal trains from the Yorkshire coalfields to Fiddlers Ferry Power station.
Many thanks to the driver for the day .

Northern 323232 bypasses Dinting on a Hadfield to Manchester Piccadilly via Glossop.
This train will eventually call at Dinting after serving Glossop at the platform behind this viewpoint. The platform in view, on what was the main Woodhead route line through to Sheffield Victoria, complete with resplendent signal box is only served by direct Hadfield trains during peak hours. At all other times Hadfield trains service Glossop before/after.
323206 (still in WMT livery) + 323232 at Preston on 1Y53 16:22 Blackpool North - Manchester Airport on 18/12/24.
With my lens set at the equivalent of 600mm the two units would have to pass more or less at exactly the same time as otherwise such a huge shallow depth of field would have resulted in only one being in focus. 30th April 2025, 323232 deps Oxford road with the 0657 to Liverpool while 331 101 approaches with a service for Manchester Airport.
Completed in 1844 the 120 foot high Dinting Viaduct spans the A57 across Dinting Vale. Increased coal traffic at the turn of the century necessitated the strengthening of the viaduct with extra brick piers.
In 2012–13, an extensive £6.4M refurbishment was undertaken by Network Rail, the viaduct's maintainer, including strengthening the girders, installing new bearings and repairs to the steel and masonry. It was also repainted in Olive Green Livery.

Wearing the Barbie livery (First version) introduced by First North Western, which relieved the monotone Blue of the North West Trains which did not suit them at all, 323232 passes through Piccadilly on it's way to Macclesfield on 4th February 2006 presumably on it's back from the Man United football ground.
