We are away in Wales this week and as always on the lookout for different things, we came across this wrens nest almost hidden from the path that we were walking along, so as not to disturb them I shot through a gap in the bushes.
Pretty dark at iso 32000 and quite a cropped image.
A common resident bird found around freshwater lakes, rivers and waterbodies. They are much smaller than the Grey Heron's and less aggressive too in my view. The birds are quite shy and have a tendency to hide in the reeds, vegetation unlike the Grey Herons which are more visible. The nesting season is towards the end of Summer and the birds start collecting materials like twigs to build their nests. These nests are well located in the middle of tall reeds and vegetation.
I was experimenting with very high shutter speeds and this was shot at max shutter speed of 1/32000. I am impressed by the quality of the shot and R5MKII noise levels are well controlled in the Raw file. The haze made things worse though. I am doubtful of using such high speeds ever though and at best limited to experimentation I guess.
Have you ever shot at such high shutter speeds? How did that go?

This aerial photograph (at 32000 feet) of farmland starkly shows the absolute requirement of water for growth, and the increasing reliance on irrigation to provide that water.
Though I was told that it was a wet Spring in Colorado this year, and the high water of the rushing rivers agreed, during the two weeks I spent there the daytime temperatures remained in the mid-90s (35-36C), with no rain in sight.

El Fushimi Inari-Taisha (伏見稲荷大社) es el principal santuario sintoísta (jinja, 神社) dedicado al espíritu de Inari, y situado en Fushimi-ku, uno de los distritos de Kioto (Japón). Fushimi Inari-taisha (伏見稲荷大社) is the head shrine of the kami Inari, located in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. The shrine sits at the base of a mountain also named Inari which is 233 metres (764 ft) above sea level, and includes trails up the mountain to many smaller shrines which span 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) and take approximately 2 hours to walk up.
Inari was originally and remains primarily the kami of rice and agriculture, but merchants and manufacturers also worship Inari as the patron of business. Each of Fushimi Inari-taisha's roughly thousand torii was donated by a Japanese business.
Owing to the popularity of Inari's division and re-enshrinement, this shrine is said to have as many as 32,000 sub-shrines (分社 bunsha) throughout Japan.
The shrine became the object of imperial patronage during the early Heian period. In 965, Emperor Murakami decreed that messengers carry written accounts of important events to the guardian kami of Japan. These heihaku were initially presented to 16 shrines, including the Inari Shrine.
From 1871 through 1946, Fushimi Inari-taisha was officially designated one of the Kanpei-taisha (官幣大社), meaning that it stood in the first rank of government supported shrines.
Foxes (kitsune), regarded as the messengers, are often found in Inari shrines. One attribute is a key (for the rice granary) in their mouths.
Unlike most Shinto shrines, Fushimi Inari-taisha, in keeping with typical Inari shrines, has an open view of the main object of worship (a mirror).
The shrine is just outside the Inari Station on the Nara Line of the West Japan Railway Company (JR), a five-minute ride from Kyoto Station. It is a short walk from Fushimi-Inari Station on the Main Line of the Keihan Electric Railway.
The shrine is open 24 hours with both the approach to the shrine and the Honden (本殿, main hall) itself illuminated all night. There is no entrance fee.
In the approach to the shrine are a number of sweet shops selling tsujiura senbei (辻占煎餅), a form of fortune cookie dating at least to the 19th century, and which are believed by some to be the origin of the American fortune cookie.

Amtrak's Polar Express is seen returning to Chicago Union Station at it crosses Lumber Street on a foggy December night. This was shot with an ISO of 32000 and edited using the Denoise feature in Lightroom. It did a very good job at eliminating the noise, but it wasnt able to preserve any detail of the rear truck on the locomotive. Still, its crazy how far photography has come in the digital world over the last decade. Dec 23, 2023

Красавица-комета станет ещё ближе и ярче к 12 сентября текущего года. А фото сделано за месяц до звёздной встречи, комета ещё не столь яркая и "поймать" её оказалось для меня не просто. Очень выручил одноклубник по астрофоруму (Юрий), благодаря его знанию неба (и вопреки моим неумелым усилиям;-), удалось настроить монтировку с обычным объективом-телевиком и несколько минут удерживать красавицу-комету в кадре, накопив несколько разных кадров для выявления звёздного окружения кометы и её самой (с разными параметрами экспозиции - ради лучшего отражения цвета). Сумма кадров позволила лучше выявить гостью

Das Amtsgericht, gegenüber der Schlosskirche auf dem Gelände des ehemaligen Lustgartens, ist eines der ältesten Gebäude in Varel.
Geplant wurde das Gebäude 1869 im Stil der Neogotik von Hofrat Ernst Klingenberg, da ein repräsentatives Gebäude für das Obergericht benötigt wurde. Der Oldenburgische Landtag unterstützte den Bau mit 32000 Talern. Fertiggestellt wurde das Bauwerk zwei Jahre später im August 1871. Obergerichte wurden im Jahre 1879 durch die Reichsgründung abgeschafft und das Amtsgericht zog in das freie Gebäude ein. Heute ist die Fassade denkmalgeschützt und lediglich der Innenraum wurde renoviert. Trotz vehementer Widerstände seitens der Bevölkerung wurde der historische große Sitzungssaal, im Inneren des Amtsgerichts, verkleinert
