THE SIGHT, SOUND, AND SMELL of a large PUFFIN colony combine so that a visit to one is an unforgettabe birdwatching experience. Among the most spectacular is Skomer Island where over fifty percent of all the U.Ks population is situated.

THANK YOU for your visit and friendship, am struggling with Flickr still, with many others am finding out.
Keep safe and well............... God bless you ......Tomx

ASK Jesus into your life, he will never let you down, and you will not regret it !!!
AN ENDEARING and unmistakable seabird. At many colonies like the Farne Islands, captured above, observers can get a close and excellent view of Puffins. The Puffin is also a true sea bird, and only comes ashore during the breeding season. A tribute to all those I missed on Skomer !!

THANK YOU for your continued support and comments, and I very much enjoy doing the same on your Flickr site.
Keep safe and well in the knowledge that Jesus is with you,
and wants you into his life if you have not already made that move. God Bless.....................Tomx
STALKS creeps and runs on the floating surface vegetation of lakes and pools. Frequently squabbles, rising wings in a threat posture to a potential aggressor. Flight is low and for short distances on rounded wings with legs hanging or held straight out behind. Very vocal at all times. We saw far fewer of these this visit, and this image sorry to say does not show its very large feet.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP, in these difficult times, but we can enjoy this special long weekend to celibate the end of the 2nd world war , and remember all those who took part, 75 years ago. We have a street party, held in our own front gardens now.
Stay well and safe.......God bless..............................Tomx
A DISTINCTIVE WADER, one of my favorites to photograph, attractive, trusting, a distinctive call, and there can be few sights and sounds more evocative of the countryside than a lapwing performing a noisy display flight over its territory in the spring. Seen at Elmley Marshes,NR Sheppey Kent. Taken from my archives !

THANK YOU for your continued support and kind comments , which is appreciated and find very encouraging, Do hope you are all keeping well, stay safe, God bless.......................Tomx

Weave JESUS into your life today !
OBSERVED these in November last, and was so thrilled as they are in a very steep decline, a small partie of them, feeding in an open grassed field. They are so very wary because it is heavily persecuted in many parts of the region, and they prefer to run from danger rather than fly. .

THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND, please leave a comment and I will eagerly look forward to doing the same with your lastest posting.
Keep a smile on your face and love in your heart for everyone!

LOVE NEVER FAILS
Even in the darkest moments, love gives hope.
Love compels us to fight against Coronavirus
Love compels us to stand together in Prayer
Love compels us to give and act as one
As we pray in our individual homes around the world, we are united as one family. In this moment of hope and peace, thank God for all he has done and is doing..............Amen.
SMELL AND SOUND, of a large PUFFIN colony combine so that a visit to one is an unforgettable birding experience!!! An endearing and unmistakable seabird, am leaving Skomer now, hope you enjoyed them as much as me, have dragged them out a bit, as so little about in Kent at the moment.

YOU HAVE TO ADMIT, GODs BEAUTY IS SIMPLY AMAZING !
AS A CHILD, can remember walking in the local arable farmland with Mum, and seeing many hundreds of these distinctive waders, mainly on the corn stubble, and their can be few sights and sounds more evocative of the country than performing lapwings. And now farmers plough over the stubble and reseed soon after cutting, To see any reasonable number of them, I have a hour drive to Elmley Marshes, a working farm, where nature is put first.
Please note that Elmley is currently closed, because of Covet19

WITH MUCH OF THE WORLD SHUT DOWN, and people told to stay in their homes, this is a good time for us to think- to consider where we are spiritually, to consider what God wants and expects us to do, to make choices we may have put off far too long.
Phaeum - 'Samobor'
These very small geraniums are quite difficult to photograph, for me at least. They are small and leggy even though only about 30cm or so tall, but with the buds and flower at the top they dance around in the slightest breeze, so trying to locate them through my 20x magnifier which reduces the LCD size by about 80 or 90% can be tricky. It's worth it though, they are such unusual pretty little things.
Trying to catch a bee can be difficult too even plotting up a single bloom on a still day - actually I haven't succeedded even though they love them - because they are open the bees thump into them and once again they disappear off the screen, by the time I relocate the flower or it returns naturally, the bee is nowhere to be seen! Chuckle.
DISTINCTIVE wader with a spiky crest, a bird of open habbitats. And during the breeding season it is found on undistured grazed grassland, moors . Seen a Elmley Marshes, Sheppey Kent.

THANK YOU for your visit, and kind comments, please do not fave and run. Will return the visit as soon as possible.
Enjoy the weekend, but stay safe, and may God bless you richly !...............................................Tomx.
AN ENDEARING and unmistakable seabird, and after spending three amazing days with them on the Island of Skomer, have so many images and unforgettable experiences with my brother and fellow island residents, will treasure them to my dying day.

RECALLING GAMBIAN images from my 2013 trip, so wish I was there now. Hope you enjoy my Big footed capture, seeing them Stalk, creep, and runs on floating surface vegetation of lakes and pools, occasionally forages on open farmland.

Reading a big book
[The subject is 30cm tall. The book is the large Monier-Williams Sanskrit-English Dictionary. External and internal camera flashes were used]
DISTINCTIVE wader, looks black and white at a distance, but in certain angles, you can see a green an purple sheen, Found at Elmley Marshes, a working farm, where they put nature first, often amoung grazing cattle, where they feed, breed and nest on the ground. Numbers have declined alarmingly as a result in farming pratices . Always a joy to see, and few sights and sounds more evocative of the countryside than a lapwing performing a noisy display flight over its territory in the spring.

Enjoying the sound of the trumpet
[The subject is 30cm tall. External and internal camera flashes were used]
WELL-MARKED gamebird. The species is generally wary because it is heavily persecuted in many parts of the region. Grey Partridges are Native to the region, out of breeding season are often seen in small parties that prefer to run from danger rather than fly. Favors open grassland which is in short supply in Kent, a rare find for me!

THANKS FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP, any comments are always appreciated, and find encouraging, stay safe and well, enjoy your weekend, God bless................................................Tom.
This edible, cream coloured, large agaric can reach up to 25cm in diameter and 30cm in height. The white gills and brown-marked stem bearing a prominent double ring make this mushroom quite identifiable....This one is half way through its growing stage...Currently there are over 10.000 types of Mushrooms.
THE PUFFIN is a true sea bird and it only comes ashore during the breeding season. It breeds in colonies and nests in underground burrows on grassy sloping cliffs here at Skokhlom. The puffin is an endearing and unmistakable seabird, loved by me and so many others, so you will have to put up with many more images of them.

Young leaves of the swamp Banksia, Banksia robur. Their size, colour and hairiness contrast with those properties of mature leaves. These leaves are less than 2cm long. The mature leaves can be over 30cm long and 12cm wide, green above, paler below, serrated and leathery. Part of a mature leaf can be seen to the right and below the new leaves.
Happy Friday and weekend!
Thanks for taking the time to visit, comment or leave a fave.
Yes, 20-30cm, depending where you live.

For "Crazy Tuesday" group theme "Somewhere to sit"
Went up into the garage store to remind myself of what was in my daughter's box labelled 'dolls house'. I was really looking to take the little silver coffee pot that I knew was there, and then saw this chair - all of 2" high.
Couldn't resist photographing it for this week's theme!
One desklight creating the shadow on a piece of white paper, and some black velour hanging at the back.
Camera is on a tripod.
A minimum of post-processing.
A minimumal photo too - a case of 'keep it simple, stupid' (KISS)
Now looking at the result I can see that there is dust on the chair, but who cares?
Pentacon f3.5 30cm.
ZOOM IN ON ITS FOOT.

RATHER SHY, flight low and short, stalks, creeps, and runs on floating surface vegetation of lakes and pools. The above is a Juvenile, who came fairly close to the hide in Abocko Forest Gambia. A joy to see as appearances are only occasionally seen.

A bulbous perennial to 30cm in height, with lance-shaped, greyish-green leaves and 1-2 nodding, bell-shaped purple flowers, the tepals tessellated with pale pink in a checkerboard fashion. Widely naturalised in Britain, but probably not a true native

Pablos nuestros.
Eran tres, eran tres, eran tres...
Tres senderos, tres huellas, tres caminos,
tres Quijotes venciendo a los molinos
con un cello, un poema y un pincel."

Well maybe. This statue stands around 30cm/inches tall. I picked it up in a charity store with the intention of using it somewhere in the garden. I couldn't not bring it home.

30cm diameter. 'Crops' of these monsters are growing from the wood chips around the avocado trees in a newly planted orchard.
Late afternoon on the Ord River cliffs and a Monjon rock wallaby (Petrogale burbidgei) appears, apparently to sit back and relax. Monjons are the smallest rock wallabies on the planet (1.3kg, 30cm) and only found in the remote northwest Kimberley and neighbouring Bonaparte Archipelago. Their speed and agility over the vertical and craggy cliff face are astounding. A rewarding capture after a long journey through the remote Australian bush.
