Under very challenging sky and foreground conditions, I managed to capture Comet NEOWISE in this widefield shot. F.O.V. is approximate 20h x 30w degrees. Tail length is ~16 degrees.
Tech Specs: Nikon d3500, Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 @ f/2.8, iso 2200, exp 50x10s, raw, cropped. Foreground was mostly fixed during this period as the comet slowly drifted from left to right. Taken from 11:20PM to 11:31PM MDT.

In honor of spring training and longing for warmer weather.
Major League Baseball holds is its spring training from mid-February until opening day of the regular season in April. The teams go to either Florida or Arizona for spring training. It’s called the Cactus League in Arizona and the Grapefruit league in Florida. My photograph this week is of a baseball and two grapefruits in reference to the Florida Grapefruit League. (The background between the baseball and front grapefruit is also a grapefruit.) The baseball I used is one that was fouled into the stadium over the net at a Rome Braves Minor League game in Rome, GA. We were driving to Florida from Ohio on vacation a few years ago and stopped in Rome overnight. We were sitting behind home plate and the ball was fouled into the section next to us. There was no one in that section and my nephew ran over to get the ball and gave it to my son.
Lit with two 30W bulbs. One to camera left behind the baseball and the other front to camera right aimed toward the baseball. HMM!

155th MMM Elephant Image Challenge
In Britain, the trade in elephants began in the Victorian age. Jumbo was the first elephant to be exhibited at the London Zoo. Later, he was sold to PT Barnum. The original vehicle was the Jen-Tug, it was a petrol powered vehicle with an Austin A40 engine.
The Jen Helecs was the same articulated vehicle but was battery powered. This version was distributed by Hindle Smart of Manchester.
Both vehicles were manufactured by Jensen Motors of West Bromwich and are from the 1950s
ANSH 120 #7 "Music to my ears"
This is a corner of the bedroom where I keep my pile of guitars and amps. Instruments from left to right: Fender Strat XII, 2005 edition (a 12 string Fender stratocaster); home made strat type electric, a cheap mandoline with piezo-electric pickups I found on sale and decided to try and learn to play; another homebuilt electric, this one with a pair of humbucker pickups. Amps l to r: Fender modelling amp, an amp for electro-acoustic instruments or mics I got just for the mandolin, a windsor 30w tube amp with dummy load (for high distortion without getting arrested for noise pollution), and a home built 5w tube amp that runs very clean (built for a clean sounding 12 string, for a Roger McGuin sound).
And no, I am not in a band and have never played in front of anyone else. This all started as a woodworking project to build a guitar around 2000, and went downhill from there.

A set of older GMD/EMD power is leading westbound Canadian Pacific train 2-287 on the approach to Nashotah, Wisconsin the morning of December 10th, 2018. – The classy three unit consist on this day was the CP 5878, CP 5871 & CP 4431 – Those two battle-worn 5800 series SD40-2s (DRF-30w) may very well have been near each other on the factory floor, having both been built at the London, Ontario plant back in the Fall of 1984 – And they have never been anything but Canadian Pacific locomotives of these same road numbers. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©
