307130 at Doncaster on 31/08/90. It was in a south facing bay so presumably on crew training runs prior to introduction on Leeds services.
Class 307 Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) 307130 stands at Doncaster Station in 1991.
Five class 307 units (307105/111/120/122/130) were overhauled at Doncaster Works for use on the newly electrified Wakefield Line service between Leeds and Doncaster. They received the West Yorkshire Metro maroon livery. The use of these units was intended as a stop-gap until three new Class 321/9 trains entered service. The final Class 307 trains were withdrawn in early 1993.
Prior to the introduction of the Class 321/9 EMUs, Class 307s were imported from Darn Sarf. Here 307130 stands at Leeds on the 17th January 1991 with a service to Doncaster.
Leeds in August 1990 and in view is 4 car emu 307130. It is carrying the West Yorkshire Metro Cherry and Cream livery.
Not great on Class 307 History, think they were built in the mid 50's , moved up to Yorkshire in 1990 and were withdrawn at the end of 1993.

On 30 March 1991, 144016 leaves Leeds on the 0948 to Halifax and passes 307130 on the 0951 to Doncaster.
On 31 March 1991, Easter Sunday, 47823 stops at Doncaster on the 1327 Bristol Temple Meads - York. The set is an NSE Mk 1 set; either the regular set had failed or it had been purloined to act as a relief train elsewhere.

On a cold and frosty 15 December 1990, 307130 arrives at Wakefield Westgate on the 0833 Leeds- Doncaster.

15th December 1990
West Yorkshire PTE liveried Class 307 307130 was awaiting departure from Leeds with a service to Doncaster on March 18th 1991. There were five ex-Great Eastern/London Tilbury & Southend Class 307's allocated to Neville Hill Depot in 1991, all being withdrawn in 1993 when the new Class 321/9 EMU's were delivered from BREL York. The 307's were well-travelled units and 32 x 4-car sets had been built at Eastleigh between 1954 & 1956.
Now replaced by class 321s, 307130 awaits its last journey to the scrapman at Doncaster on 16 April 1992.

When rails diverge, either for a lonely siding or a busy consolidating yard, a switch is used. A switchstand is used to control and move the points, and the frog seen here in 3D, allows the wheel flanges across the opposing rail. Long ago four ends were bolted together, two were ground to a point and two were spread apart and a pair of fishplates placed between the spread and point to maintain the gap. Fabricating a switch was labor intensive and the finished points and frog were in constant need of maintenance, alignment and tightening to avoid derailment, particularly as the weight of cargo and equipment increased. The cast steel frog seen here reduced the cost of fabricating a switch and eliminated much of the maintenance expense and helped keep the wheels on the rails as well as the occasional re-rail. To install this frog four rails are cut nearly square, reducing waste and grind time then two holes are drilled in standard locations to bolt to the frog. The frog is laid on six clamp plates which hook onto the bottom of the frog and allow precise gauging and tightening before lag bolts secure them to the wooden sleepers (aka ties.) This is preferable to driving spikes as spikes would work themselves loose over time and eventually require the special long sleepers required at the frog of switches to be replaced more frequently.
Guide rails, short sections of rail inset at either side of the frog, helped keep the wheel flanges against the outside rail and therefore centering the opposite wheel in the frog, a practice started with hand-hewn frogs. This cast steel frog also features a similar design of raised flanges which pressed the outside wheel face as it crossed the critical spot of the rail junction, helping retain the rolling wheel flanges in the proper grove. The raised flanges, assisted by gradual rise from the outside of the rail to the top surface, incorporates an automatic re-railer shape. The design keeps trains running smoothly, and by eliminating delays of derailment and work crews, lowers the cost of operation.

A work by Vanessa Hill of the Land & Sculpture Design Partnership. The sculpture commemorates the murder of 57 Jews in Bury St Edmunds on Palm Sunday, 19th March 1190. It takes the form of a stainless steel teardrop on a round, single tier brick base in-filled with 57 cobbles – one for each life remembered. The sculpture is located on the site where the annual holocaust memorial services take place in Bury. The interpretation text explains the symbolism of the sculpture ''The teardrop is a natural and universal symbol of pity and persecution, of human suffering and sorrow. It is made from polished stainless steel; its mirrored surface reflects back to us the role we all must play in opposing humanity’s inhumanity.''
