WW 3041 is one of 50 such covered hopper cars built by Portec in Atlanta GE in 1979. These 4000 cuft plate B cars were not wildly successful despite bridging the gap between the larger capacity covered hoppers shippers and railroads wanted yet still holding to plate B specs, but they certainly found a home on the WW who placed subsequent orders. This car was nearly new when photographed in Atlanta GA during the summer of 1979. Howard L Robins photo, JL Sessa collection.
