From Cornell Labs: "First brought to North America by Shakespeare enthusiasts in the nineteenth century, European Starlings are now among the continent’s most numerous songbirds. They are stocky black birds with short tails, triangular wings, and long, pointed bills. Though they’re sometimes resented for their abundance and aggressiveness, they’re still dazzling birds when you get a good look." I couldn't have said it more perfectly. This non-breeder pauses for a drink at my local park watering hole, #7 of the 9 different species I photographed within the hour I hung out there that morning.

Bird Nest Fern -Hunte's Garden in Barbados is a glorious place. There are hundreds of tropical plants thickly together at this lush location. You walk down a path to the grassy bottom where there are alcoves with chairs. It is a perfect spot for a picnic or just quiet contemplation. I first took a photo of this plant from the side but then looked Inside to see its hidden depths.

The M-Th Dakota and Iowa rock train to Hawarden crawls over the Sioux Falls Diversion Channel. Three SD40-2s are in charge of today's hefty train and are seen in some very sweet morning light. The sun had only been up for a half hour!
