Bougainvillea is a genus of thorny ornamental vines, bushes, or trees (family Nyctaginaceae). The inflorescence consists of large colourful sepallike bracts which surround three simple waxy flowers. It is native to South America from Brazil west to Peru and south to southern Argentina. The vine species grow anywhere from 1 to 12 m tall, scrambling over other plants with their spiky thorns. They are evergreen where rainfall occurs all year, or deciduous if there is a dry season. The leaves are alternate, simple ovate-acuminate, 4–13 cm long and 2–6 cm broad. The actual flower of the plant is small and generally white, but each cluster of three flowers is surrounded by three or six bracts with the bright colours associated with the plant, including pink, magenta, purple, red, orange, white, or yellow. Bougainvillea glabra is sometimes referred to as paper flower because the bracts are thin and papery. The fruit is a narrow five-lobed achene. 30101

One of many special liveries worn by Qantas aircraft celebrating the First Nations people of Australia. Yananyi Dreaming was developed by Indigenous-owned design agency Balarinji, using motifs painted by Central Australian artist Rene Kulitja. Kulitja was inspired by the vibrant colours of the dramatic landscape surrounding Uluru. 'Yananyi' means going or travelling.

Ah, it's a very British/ European/ Hong Kong and Singapore thing that many people (mostly boys and men, but they are girls and ladies too) are bus enthusiasts. I'm one of those nerds and I'm a minor one compared with many who know buses much better than me.

The Great Ouse is the largest and longest of several British rivers called 'Ouse'. From Syresham in South Northamptonshire, the Great Ouse flows into East Anglia before entering the Wash and the North Sea. With a course of 143 miles (230 km), mostly flowing north and east, it is the fourth-longest river in the United Kingdom.
The Great Ouse has been historically important for commercial navigation, and for draining the low-lying region through which it flows; its best-known tributary is probably the Cam, which runs through Cambridge. Its lower course passes through drained wetlands and fens and has been extensively modified, or channelised, to relieve flooding and provide a better route for barge traffic. Though the un-modified river probably changed course regularly after floods, it now enters the Wash after passing through the port of King's Lynn, south of its earliest-recorded route to the sea.
