I gotta admit my "lens test" from yesterday's post of the little furry thing referred to as a pocket gopher did bring to mind last Spring's fling with the Long-tailed Weasel family. This was from the day after our discovery. It was just the best - the kits were frolicking, dad was off hunting gophers, and I think that's mom in the background upside down. They did work on gopher control - the dad took out an entire family of newborns and the poor parent that morning, brought them all back to the burrow for his family, one by one while i watched in amazement. I and a number of other photogs from all around SoCal enjoyed their high-energy antics for the next couple of months.

16th July 2017 - McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle '00-3002/LN' of the USAFE 48 FW/494 FS based at RAF Lakenheath pulling some nice vapour on the climb out.

Not enough between them to call it generations but still, there's quite some difference in design.

CFL 3000's were built in 1998 / 1999 by Alsthom, the Alpha Traxx dates from 2007 / 2008, built by Bombardier and the Siemens Vectron in this picture is probably not more than a year old.

All 3 have just arrived from an international trip and await their next duty in the blue hour at the C1 yard.

Its not common to get one of AVRs SD40-2R (SD45 rebuilds) South/ East of the WLE interchange at Bruceton, Pa. Here is AVR 3002, 4005, 405 switching out International Paper located in Gambles, Pa. The layout here was recently changed and it no longer requires a switchback to switch here.
