Beaver Creek Falls, is a small waterfall located at the confluence of Beaver and Sweet Creeks in Lane County, in Oregon. The waterfall is known for joining of the two creeks becoming one intertwined waterfall.
It is a 20 foot fall in a wide cascade and is the centerpiece attraction of the Beaver Creek Falls Trail trailhead and Recreation Site.
This fall can be photographed from above, as is shown here, and from a different trail about 1/2mile downstream, where you can walk in and see from stream level.
Looking from the Embleton Bay C&M club CL towards North Farm Cottages, and the Northumberland AONB, as the sun goes down. Just a 2mile walk to the beach with Dunstanburgh Castle to the right and Low Newton to the left, a fabulous beach and walk.

The town has few parking places! The only place available near the town was about 1/2mile away and I snapped this after parking and walking back to town. -
Southbound CSX ethanol train K421-21 passes CT Junction in Cincinnati as it takes the 2mile plus former C&O bridgeworks across the Ohio River into Kentucky. This angle has been on my mind for many years but you need the Interstate to be closed or have a police escort. I figured the power warranted a risky maneuver so I timed the departing train slowed down to 20 MPH and clicked a few shots thru the passenger window with my tele. I was kinda pleased I got the shot in focus and somewhat composed correctly.
Coillegillie is a small former crofting township nestling on the south end of the Applecross/ Toscaig peninsula, Scotland. It is accessible only by a 1.2mile track or by boat landing on the shore.
Apparently in the late 19th century Coillegillie had as many as 28 inhabitants whose diet mainly consisted of fish and seafood. It was the tuberculosis outbreak in the 1920’s which eventually led to the majority of homes in Coillegillie being abandoned and the houses stood empty and locked, just as the residents had left them, for almost 50 years. Today at Coilliegillie there is one Modernised Holiday Cottage that you can rent if you really want to get away from the outside World. The views from Coilliegillie across the Inner Sound of the Isle of Raasay to the Cuillins on Skye are tremendous and ever changing so it’s well worth the trek to get there.

Poppies and Lupines on a steep hill near Jackson, CA. It was a brutal 350ft climb in just under 0.2mile. Coming down was a bigger problem
Hiked to Chasm Lake twice in the past two weeks to catch the sunrise on the east wall of Longs Peak and the partially frozen lake. The 4.2mile one-way trail (elevation gain of 2,360 ft) took me a little more than 2 hours, but had to start the hike around 3am in order to beat the sunrise at 5:30. Hiking in the middle of the night can be scary, but not on this popular trail where the parking lot can be half-full by 3am. Most people aim at the summit of Longs peak, hence the majority of the time one can have the lake all to him/herself at sunrise.
On this particular day the peak didn't completely reveal itself until an hour later, but the low hanging clouds did provide the dramatic atmosphere and brilliant color on the "diamond" and the lake.

Canon 5D Mark II + EF 17-40mm f/4L. 19mm 0.6sec at f/18, ISO800, tripod, GND 0.6.
(I wanted f18 to get enough DOF, but since it was windy I wanted to minimize the exposure time as well. ISO800 on 5D Mark II is the highest ISO I would comfortably go without worrying about the quality.)
I had never before visited St. Louis Canyon in the winter, so I set out on the 1/2mile trek which I could best describe as 1/2 a mile of ice skating.. down and up hill! Tricky but doable and it also meant I had the entire canyon to myself for a while. Pretty spectacular!

Well that was a fun packed day. Set off to Windsor at 6.15.
Got to Clapham Junction to find that there was no trains to Windsor due to a power failure.
Found there was a bus replacement service from Staines. Got a train to Staines.
Replacement coach turns up. Drives to Windsor.
Reaches Datchet and lets a few people out. Coach driver cannot re-start the coach.
After 10mins of faffing around he announces that the gear box has failed and we all have to get off and make our own way there. Nearly a 2mile walk. No trains, no buses, just a long hard slog.
Got to site at 9am and didn't really stop all day... Just got home now...
Good job I get overtime... oh no I don't do I...
Nice 3.2mile stroll around Broomhead Reservoir with Jill today.. With such exertion a late lunch at Costa was definitely needed!!
Looking down towards More Hall Reservoir here..
Word up.....another scorcher today, perfect painting conditions, the paint worked like a dream, an absolute pleasure to be in a 2mile long HOF on the Thames Estuary.....I cant explain why I was the only bod down there all day though......I dont get it.....we scream for days like this all year.....maybe it'll be busy tomorrow.....or is just a world cup ting...??.
Anyway, mish mash of scraps, 5 hours, bang, outty by 2pm again, I went to the wall with a plan, but walked away having painted something totally different. Had fun playing with fatcap highlights and some sparkles though......its all good.

An amazing 2 km (1.2mile) trail through an ancient rainforest on a raised wooden boardwalk.
This walk is amongst many grand old trees, hanging mosses, ferns, salal and many other forest plants and fungi. As you weave through the thick foliage and trees, it is an amazing feast for the eyes of the multiple variations of green.
We took our time, taking in every corner of the forest, those who rushed by us missed so much.
Let’s take our hearts for a walk in the woods
and listen to the magic whispers of old trees.

This is the park I run every day. I haven't done the long loop around these rocks in awhile. It's a 9.2mile route for me. 5.5 miles is enough....really......:0)

The magic of flying never gets boring. Cruising at FL340 shortly after midnight with constellation Orion clearly visible above us and the Nor'easter storm lighting up the sky ahead of us on the way to Boston. Shortly after this photo, we took a right turn and headed into the eye of the storm. 46mph wind gusting to 52mph with 2mile visibility and heavy rain made the approach quite exciting until we threw ourselves to the ground. Great piloting by the crew and a very exciting flight for sure! Time to sleep...
16.8.2016. Hartington Moor embankment - final shot from my day out in Derbyshire.
Looking north along the huge embankment that must be at least 1/2mile long - it is clear to see the amount of material that would have been required to build this structure. Beyond the end of the embankment the deep cutting is visible.
This line was opened in 1899 and built for the LNWR for the section between Ashbourne and Buxton.
You can only marvel at the industry of the Victorians!
Popped round to cramond on the way home tonight and glad I did. Got a couple of nice shots.
Also - reasons to be cheerful today:
- Angry Birds new level update
- On annual leave tomorrow
- 18-50mm f2.8 EX back from sigma today and its rear focus issue completely resolved
- Set of hi-tech hard grads arrived (and used) today
Reasons to be less sparky
- swimming the 2mile great north swim tomorrow in Lake windermere
- HEAVY rain forecast for the swim
Anyways - used the hard grads here for the first time and extremely impressed - this was the hitech 0.9 and 0.6 hard grad stacked. Given my shonkty eyesight I found for a shot like this the hard grad infinitly easier to position and very pleased with the exposure on it.
I always offer to take photos of my son competing but I never promised that I'd never have fun with the shots I take.
Here he is finding motivation from our mini Aussie, Zoe.
Looks closely at this photo.
I didn't realize what I captured here at the MASCAC Sports event this past weekend. I send the photo to my son (who is on the Bridgewater State University track & field team) and tell him to look at the photo, he then tells me the actual story.
The woman on the left just found out she broke a school record from the woman on the right who is her team's coach. Why is it a big deal? Because the student broke the school record that her coach (woman on the right) held!
Oh, the phone didn't make it. She came down on the phone. Victory takes sacrifices!

nah... It's Davenport, about 9 mile North of Santa Cruz. About 2mile N/S of Davenport are all nice spots for local photographers. I've seen many people there at sunset. I'll be coming back every weekend now.
This large inland delta is formed where the waters of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers meet Suisun Bay and ultimately join San Francisco Bay.
Last evening I went chasing some rain clouds to find sun breaks and ended up here near 3-mile slough bridge. The storm dropped heavily on me as i hunkered in a patch of bamboo with a small piece of Saran Wrap covering my lens. When it passed, the final rays of day began to break through to bathe the estuary with colors.
I was breaking in a new lens, the Pentax DA21 Limited, and can say it has been duly baptized by the passing storm cloud.
The 3200 is one of the only races that pits boys against girls in Michigan. I have never seen any girls be very competitive in it, though.
I find this strange. We know that, in general, the longer the race, the more competitive females are. Perhaps 2 miles simply isn't enough distance?
A lot of times, as was the case here, the girls start out behind and stay behind. Sure, a few of the slower boys get passed, but I have never seen a girl compete with a relatively fast boy. But then again, the 3200 is for serious runners only! (meaning there aren't many bad runners in the race).

We went on a long hike today. I found a new 2mile trail that allows off leash dogs and we decided to go explore. Ben joined us on our little adventure. I will have to come back there once Jasmine gets back from dog training. She will love the area. :)
Dylian had a blast and is currently sound asleep on the floor. I haven't seen him that happily tired in a while. :)
I Had a business trip to Portland and Seattle and I knew I have to bring all my kit and try to capture some of the beauty there in between trips. I also rented a 10-20mm lens for wide angle landscapes.
This shot is for Punchbowl Falls in Eagle creek trail (Columbia river gorge). It took a nice 2mile hike along the trail to reach this beauty. I came here a little late afternoon and it was a hot day. When I reached this spot, the breeze was really cool and refreshing. Maybe because it was not a weekend day and at that time, there was absolutely no one when I reached it. I really felt lost in the beauty and vastness of the place and decided to call the shot "Desolation". After cooling down a little, it was time to capture this beauty. I tried different compositions, and this was one of my favorite. I tried to work the blown-out sky there and even took different exposures, but was not successful and did not like th blend results. So, this is a single exposure shot that I still like.

Taken on Saturday's Foxy 100 mile ride
We had a safe & wonderful ride! Our group rotated through the flats and re-grouped after the hills to work as a team to the finish. With the last bit energy available, the 4 of us rotated while riding back to the start in Davis at 20mph - a strong finish! The re-grouping stops took it's toll on our overall time, but my riding time was 5:22 which netted an18.4 mph average for the 98.2mile ride (158km)!
