A resident Leafbird that is found in forest areas around the country. I had sighted this bird several times, but never had a decent shot. The pair have a golden patch on their foreheads from which they get their name.
The Leafbirds are bright green birds always seen foraging on the upper canopies. They eat tree spiders, larvae and other insects found on the bark of the tree. I think this one is a female judging by pale golden orange color on its forehead. The male was trying to woo the female with songs continuously, but the female wasn't interested at all. This went on for almost 30 mins after which time both disappeared downslope on the hill away from view.

I was adjusting color on the RAW version of this image, and as I was experimenting, I saw this and liked it. Maybe a little weird, but I've been told I'm a little weird, too. :)
A Small passerine bird found across small ranges in the country and across much of South East Asia. The bird is around 15 cms long, and found in lush forests where it hunts in the middle canopy. This is an elusive bird and since its prefers hunting in canopy, is a tough shot in my view.
The bird is a quick agile flyer and I had seen it a few times before from long distance just enough to get a record shot. But this time, under dense canopy and hiding behind bushes, we got a chance to observe it in action. The Flycatcher Shrike tends to join other species (mixed flock groups) in hunting insects. It darts off, catches, consumes and darts off in quick succession. The area we found it had a variety of bird species - around 7-8 interesting ones, and this is the only bird we got a shot of. We did sight around 4-5 of them, though they hunted alone. The others in the area included Grey-Headed Canary Flycatchers, Large Woodshrikes, Fulvettas, Yellow Tits, Common Woodshrikes, Paradise Flycatchers, Nuthatches and Malabar Trogons.

Here is sunrise as I zoomed in this AM in Michigan, 2,000 miles away from the west coast wildfires, thus the 2K in the title. The sun was not visible as it first crested the horizon, becoming visible about 20 minutes after the posted sunrise time. This felt like shooting an eclipse before the moon progressively blocks the sun.

A really small diminutive bird just around 12-14 cms long. It is quite a silent bird and easy to miss and track. The birds are long migrants from South East Asia and Southern china to South India during winters. They are flycatchers and often seen in the underbush and near wet areas hunting flies around woody areas. But I suspect there is a population of them resident in the country in some the richer forests far away from the cities.
During the last two trips we sighted several of them and some of them were quite unmindful of humans. This one was shot in a lovely forest where bird come down to the pools to drink water. This flycatcher was waiting near one pool for the flies to be disturbed before it can make a catch.
