Taken in San Diego in Coronado Bay. I rented a boat and drove across the bay to see them.
These ABA CODE 4 birds were found by Paul Lehman on Dec 11, 2017
They mostly breed on the Galapagos Islands but also offshore Mexico and in Ecuador.
The two birds were extremely affectionate towards one another. You can't see the second bird too well in these photos but you can see both birds well in other shots in this album.
Nazca boobiers were first thought to be a subspecies of the Masked Booby but in 2002 it was recognized as its own species.
Nazca boobies lay 2 eggs but only ever raise one chick. The first egg is laid up to nine days before the other. This delay is a death sentence for the second chick that hatches, as the first can easily push it out of the nest, and it does so in every case, without fail. Once outside of the nest, the parents do not acknowledge the unwanted chick and it quickly dies from either starvation, temperature change or predation.

Never fear dear viewer...one only watched these headaches in a glass being made...one was quaffing Red Stripe...a far safer alternative!

I don't judge on first impressions. I also know people can make poor decisions or see themselves negatively if they have had a bad day. It really is about your perspective. Plus, something can even become beautiful even if you thought it wasn't before or you can like a person upon your second meeting, etc. Whatever it is, allow yourself time to really get to know or understand a situation before you judge it or yourself...you may be surprised.

Only one slot left in today's set of ten in which to fit this week's photo sleeve, and unfortunately, in the world of Kmart 2 for 1 photo prints (a series I've been following with rather considerable dedication, you'll note), we're progressing quite out of order, seeing as how this sleeve advertises 2 for 1 services every day as compared to just twice a week. I have more sleeves to post from both aforementioned eras of the 2 for 1 deal, but this was the only one with just one photo – likely because the rest of the sleeve matched the design of another sleeve, which (again, timey-wimey here) hasn't been posted yet.

Watching and photographing the behaviours and actions of these stunning birds at close quarters was a dream come true.
This early morning encounter has the female waving the tail of her catch and getting some interest from the male.

Last up for today, yet another set of KCoupons. If the 500 bonus points one looks funny to you, that's because it is: I had two identical sleeves like this photographed, and this one was in better condition, but was missing the bonus points, so I cropped them out of the other one and stuck 'em on here :P
I wish I could say this is my last photo sleeve, what with it matching the first one I uploaded as mentioned previously, but there's still one more to post. Look for it later this week, along with my Kroger and Walmart updates!

(cont.) and the expiration dates on these coupons (8-31-95), I'm thinking this is the earliest Kmart photo sleeve that I have a photographed. In retrospect, it probably would've been a good idea to check the coupon dates before this series began so I could post them in order XD

Geez, those darn 2 for 1 ads are inescapable!! All of the other Kmart Christmas sleeves I've uploaded may mention the offer, but refrain from doing so in the same bold-colored, italicized fashion as we've seen otherwise. A look at the interior of the sleeve reveals some of the Kmart Photo Center's services, including enlargements and reprints, as well as a plug for Kodak film, with whom Kmart evidently must have had a partnership. Speaking of partnerships, I'm surprised none of the Kmart photo sleeves I have mention the chain's in-store photography partner, Olan Mills.

If you hang out with dragonflies long enough you get to see everything. The male damselfly is still holding on to his girlfriend but obviously not having a good time as the dragonfly is using him as the appetizer. The female really hates these clinging relationships and probably wishes he would move on as that dragonfly (eating her boyfriend) looks hungry and she may be the next course.
On the other hand, it’s the dragonfly’s lucky day as it’s a two for one special!

I had my potted flower (verbena-bonariensis) sitting up on a chair in this image. I got it on clearance for three dollars. I'll definitely be purchasing them next year. The butterflies and hummingbirds can't get enough.
