This is what gets me where I go when my legs can't walk that far...or maybe just don't want to.......my beloved VR6.

It was hard for me to find a place with low enough ambient to pull this one off. I'd been brewing at this one for a while, but never got down to trying it. Tonight seemed like a good night.

Strobist Info:

I duct taped 3 SB-28's to a light stand, each on it's own level so it could be adjusted individually and each with it's own pocket wizard. I also had an SB-26 on the top, and I had taped a little white piece of paper on the 2nd to upper most SB-28 to bounce light up and trigger the 26 (check out the picture below). By the time I got a shot I was happy with, the cheapo batteries I was using in the 26 died on me, so I only have 3 firing instead of 4. I had so many misfires, dealing with light bouncing issues, recycling issues and my shoe coming off in the mud issues. This was all done on bulb mode, and I realized when I arrived that I had no timer, so I just did some guess work/counted out loud to myself as I walked. If anyone had been around, I'm sure I'd have seemed like a weirdo.

What I think I ended up with was a 38 second exposure at f/11 and iso 200. I had my strobes set at 1/16th power, which was where I found they recycled quick enough, but where still powerful enough at iso 200 to still be able to push a fairly closed down aperture for a semi star as opposed to just a blob of light. This is a single exposure. I just walked around the car holding the light stand, and firing it off with my master PW which I held in my other hand. I just tried to keep a steady rhythm around the car. My arm is sore....

EBD CP 642 thankfully blocks WBD NS 21Q-28's route at CP506 so within 5 minutes we had all our quarries covered. Whiting, IN. It's hard to fuss over a CP SD30C ECO!

This was the oddest fullpipe I've been in so far, a closed capsule with a small opening at each end, nearly 5 meters above ground. There was hardly any light inside and the metal walls rumbled and echoed as you rolled. Since you couldn't see the horizon, being in its belly was really disorientating. Masa's fs ollie is one sick move.

Shot with Mamiya RZ 67 + 37/3.5 fisheye, on Portra 400 NC. I had a set of Nikon SB-28's aimed at the ceiling about 5 meters behind me and a set of Sunpak 120J's aimed at the left wall, thus pretty much all visible light is reflected from the shiny metal surface. PW's for triggering.

Designed to replace the World War II era T-6 trainer, the T-28 Trojan possessed higher performance than its forerunner and was easier to maintain. Also, the Trojan’s tricycle landing gear taught pilots to take off and land in the same fashion as the high-performance aircraft they were training to fly. The first T-28 flew in September 1949, and the T-28A Trojan entered production in 1950. An 800-hp engine powered the U.S. Air Force version (T-28A Trojan) while the later U.S. Navy versions (T-28B and C) were powered by a 1,425-hp engine. When production ended, North American Aviation had built a total of 1,948 T-28's. The USAF replaced the T-28 as a primary trainer in the mid-1950s with the piston-engined Beech T-34 Mentor and jet-powered Cessna T-37. Trojans, however, continued to be flown by the Air National Guard until the late 1950's, and by the U.S. Navy into the 1980's.

Smart 1956 North American T-28C Trojan 140068/N928C in U.S. Navy markings at the National Museum of World War II Aviation in Colorado Springs, CO.

Flown for the first time in 1949 as a replacement for the T-6 Texan, the Trojan served as a primary trainer for the USAF, USN and Marine Corps, finally being phased out by the Navy, Marines and USCG in the early 80's. Almost 2,000 were built, and the 'D' version was used for counter-insurgency operations during the Vietnam War. T-28's were also used by France (as the Fennec), Argentina and Taiwan.

Saint John's cathedral , Den Bosch

In 1185 Hendrik van Brabant founded on the domain Othen a niew city : 's-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) and around 1220 the people of this place started building a new church , dedicated to Saint John the Evangelist.Originally it was build a a parochy church, but in 1559 it was called a cathedral.

It's build in gothic style and it's a important dutch monument. It's a cahtolic church.

The name in dutch is Sint-Jan's kathedraal.

Here's a b&w version and for now , also the closing ceremony of our upload of Den Bosch.

There's so much to tell about this church, but maybe it's better for those who are really interested, to give some links here:

The idea behind Mech Monday was to post one model of a mech, robot or drone per week, each Monday of 2019. Markus did all 52 models last year. For personal reasons, I did only the first half. This year, I’m doing the remaining 26 weekly themes.

Join in on the fun in the Mech Monday group.

If you want a challenge or need inspiration, next week’s theme is “Four Arms.”

See you next Monday!

I was thinking what an unusual picture this is, it is really quite atypical of the DRGW ng. First you have two freshly shopped K-28's together on a train. Secondly, these engines are usually assigned to the Silverton passenger service, but here they are fake diamond stacks and all on the point of a freight train. And by DRGW standards of just a few years prior it is a very short freight, not one of the long 50 to 70 car trains that two engines typically dragged up Cumbres. And finally it is highballing down a relatively well ballasted heavy rail well kept line, not the 70 lb rail and native earth ballast of much of the ng.

The aerobatic team flies their T-28's in formation and through various maneuvers.

Bourke's Luck Potholes

Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve (or Motlatse Canyon Provincial Nature Reserve) is situated in the Drakensberg escarpment region of eastern Mpumalanga, South Africa. The reserve protects the Blyde River Canyon, including sections of the Ohrigstad and Blyde Rivers and the geological formations around Bourke's Luck Potholes, where the Treur River tumbles into the Blyde below. Southwards of the canyon, the reserve follows the escarpment, to include the Devil's and God's Window, the latter a popular viewpoint to the lowveld at the reserve's southern extremity.

The Mogologolo (1,794 m), Mariepskop (1,944 m) and Hebronberg (1,767 m) massifs are partially included in the reserve. Elevation varies from 560 m to 1,944 m above sea level. Its resort areas are F.H. Odendaal and Swadeni, the latter only accessible from Limpopo province. The area of approximately 29,000 hectares (290 km2) is administered by the Mpumalanga Parks Board.

Bourke's Luck Potholes

This geological feature and day visitors' attraction, named after Bernard Thomas Bourke (brother of Eddie Bourke), is situated at the confluence of the Treur and Blyde Rivers, on the reserve's western boundary 24°40′28″S 30°48′39″E. The reserve's nature conservation headquarters is located here, beside the village of Moremela, at the canyon's southern, or upper reaches.

Sustained kolks in the Treur River's plunge pools have eroded a number of cylindrical potholes or giant's kettles, which can be viewed from the crags above. It was named after a local prospector, Tom Bourke, who predicted the presence of gold, though he found none himself. The pedestrian bridges connect the various overlooks of the potholes and the gorge downstream.

* Grote delen van de auto zijn echter niet door Porsche, maar door Béla Barényi en/of Erwin Komenda ontworpen. Beiden claimen de originele bedenker van het concept te zijn.

* Volgens anderen zou de Hongaarse Jood Josef Ganz de ontwerper zijn. Het blijft vooralsnog onduidelijk wie de werkelijke bedenker was van het concept "Kever".

* De Kever speelt een hoofdrol in de Herbie-films.

* Kever met staande koplampen en vierkante bumpers = na 1967 tijdperk

* De 1303 sedan is gebouwd van 08-1972 t/m 07-1975

The PV-28 is a antigrav patrol craft, here in operation for the Northern Coalition Border Guard. The design with its two moving thruster nacelles provides unrivalled manoeuvreability.

The Swallows were commissioned shortly after the declaration of the strict "stand your ground" immigration policy by NC prime chairman Ronald W. Prunt. Even though officially unarmed, the extensive use of the PV-28's stun pulsers and its E16 EMP-cannon led to a number of casualties. Reports speak of heart failures and several lethal accidents of immigrant's transports and dissident speeders.

The squatty craft, on duty in several countries of the NC as Border Guard and Police variant, is somewhat inappropriately named Swallow by its manufacturer Trueglass-Huaxing - presumably with its top-view layout in mind. In street speech, it's usually referred to as knuckle sandwich.

The manoeuvrability of the PV-28 is also its weakness. The gimbaled engine pods induce considerable structural stress, leading to material fatigue and high maintenance cost. Thus, the NC-Congress is in a budget debate to replace the relatively new craft with a more efficient design.

An improvisation I started with the fender parts of the Speed Kings McLaren 720S. Consists mainly of parts from the sets 75880, 31071, 60178, 75195 and a few other pieces.

In 2009, First London introduced a batch of Wright Pulsar Gemini 2 bodied VDL DB300s on the 23/328, 7 years on the contracts for both the 28 and 328 have been retained, the former with existing buses from route 295 and the latter with new hybrids. But, there are enough hybrids to cover the full PVR of route 328 but there are not enough existing buses from the 295 for the 28's contract, so have the WNs been refurbished for the 28?

On 17 February 2010, SV Concordia encountered what the vessel's Captain called a microburst some 550 kilometres (300 nmi) southeast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in rough seas and high winds. The vessel was knocked onto its side within 15 seconds[6] and eventually sank 20 minutes afterward.

In September 2011, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada report found, "The wind speeds experienced by the vessel at the time of the knockdown were most likely in the range of 25 to 50 knots (46 to 93 km/h; 29 to 58 mph). While there was probably a vertical component to the wind, there is no evidence that a microburst occurred at the time of the knockdown." The report also found the vessel was operated in a way that did not allow it to, "...react to changing weather conditions appropriately and maintain the stability of the vessel."

"The risk of a knockdown was not understood," said TSB board member Jonathan Seymour. As a result, "appropriate action" – including reducing sail, changing course or sealing water-ingress points – was not taken before the squall hit.

— Globe and Mail, September 29, 2011

All aboard successfully abandoned ship. As the capsizing was so fast, no radio distress call was made but an EPIRB was hydrostatically released and automatically activated when the vessel sank.

The Concordia sank at 1423 hrs local time Wednesday. At 1425 Concordia's Bosun Geoffrey Byers swam to retrieve the EPIRB and brought it aboard the rafts. The Captain directed that someone hold the EPIRB upright at all times and keep it safe from damage. The EPIRB signal was received at 1505 hrs by the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite GOES 12. The position of the sinking, 27°28′S 40°53′WCoordinates: 27°28′S 40°53′W, was resolved at 1525 local time. The TSB report noted the EPIRB database only listed one telephone number for the Concordia and that number had not been in service since 2004.

The following morning at 0806 hrs the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre Brazil sent a fax to Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Halifax requesting information about the Concordia. After attempting to contact Concordia a Brazilian Air Force aircraft was dispatched at 17 hrs local time Thursday and sighted the liferafts 3 hours later.

The survivors spent nearly 30 hours in liferafts before the aircraft spotted them. Flares were fired from the rafts, and the aircraft blinked its landing lights in response and directed nearby merchant ships to the scene. The lights of the Mitsui O.S.K. Lines woodchip carriers Hokuetsu Delight and Crystal Pioneer were sighted by the survivors at 1:30 am local time and the rescue was completed by 8 am local time.

41 hours after the sinking the crew were safely aboard the rescue ships. All 64 people (48 students, eight teachers and eight crew) who were on board were rescued from 3 large and 1 small liferafts.

They feed on a variety of plant foods – blossoms, seeds, grasses – feeding both on the ground and in the trees. When the maree trees (red gums) fail to flower, hungry 28’s can be a major vineyard and orchard pest."
