Haystack Rock is a basalt monolith, originally formed by lava flows around 15 million years ago. At one time, it was attached to the coastline, but millions of years of erosion have separated it from the coastline. At low tide, it is still possible to walk out to the base of the rock from the beach.

ICE SD40-2 6449 leads ICE SD40-2 6448 and its short 273 29 from Savanna Yard, IL to Nahant Yard, IA. The 273 is no longer the same train it was a year ago as CP has made many changes in the whole ICE corridor. It is currently possible to get some decent consists as CP is one of many railroads that is power short but that wont last for long and it was once a "common" thing to get a pair like this. The train is hugging the Mississippi River and is flying through Dear Creek.

Silly me! This evening I met up with Matt and Nikki for a long overdue catch up over dinner. Totally failed to take any pics, though I had lots of good opportunities.
So instead here is a pic of a pic from their wedding. Not too out there since I got to see their beautiful album tonight.
