Diary story..
Up at 6:30 and had porridge and cooked eggs.
Took this photo of the camp. Packed the LRs, drove out of the quarry & along to Forrest. We talked to mail post. I posted driftwood to Mum in box at PO, 6/-
To aerodrome had cuppa & fresh biscuit.. Got gas (petrol) & water, drove out towards Rawlinna & meterorite, boggy. Mud after 25mi we turne N alongtrack to blowhole, photo then on to L (lunch) at oasis trees.
Saw white dingo. Photo. chased him. Drone E & then back 12mi W by bearings on scrub & salt bush. Got to large scarp & "valley". Camped on edge. Hunted for rabbit. Cooked tea, carried railway sleepers in LR.
Radio, washed up, bed 7:15. Windy cold, very funny Phil getting into bed..

Julie, ! 100s more of that year to come. All photos had to have some significance and a story so as not to waste film, with the added effort of posting them back to Kodak, waiting a couple of weeks, then sitting in the tent out of the wind and rain to write the details on each slide.
I have generally named each image on flickr with that description, and added more notes from my diary. This will be a life-long retirement project. Looking up each slide, finding the reference in my diary and copying some of the diary entry..

Triatlón Ironman
El Ironman es la prueba más exigente e importante del Triatlón. Consta de 3.800 m de natación, 180 km de ciclismo y 42,2 km de pedestrismo (trote). La carrera tiene un tiempo límite de 17 h, un tiempo promedio de 12 horas, y el tiempo récord actual es de 8:04:08. (Hawaii -1996) Al Campeonato Mundial, sólo acuden los triatletas mejor preparados del mundo, quienes deben de entrenar duramente para esta prueba, cubriendo grandes distancias de natación, ciclismo y trote a la semana durante un mínimo de uno o dos años, tanto a nivel amateur como profesional, además de participar en una serie de pruebas clasificatorias para llegar a competir. El solo hecho de clasificar es motivo de reverencia.
El campeonato del Mundo se lleva a cabo en Hawaii todos los años, pero se realizan otros Ironman's como sesiones clasificatorias para el campeonato mundial el resto del año, los cuales tienen lugar en distintos países del mundo como Australia, Brasil, España, Canadá, Estados Unidos, Sudáfrica,Francia, entre otros. Estas pruebas las regula la World Triathlon Corporation (WTC).
Historia
El Hawaii Ironman Triathlon es el más antiguo y prestigioso triatlón del mundo. Tiene su origen en 1978, cuando el astronauta John Collins propuso combinar tres competencias ya existentes para saber qué atletas eran mejores (nadadores, corredores o ciclistas). Las competencias eran la " Waikiki Roughwater Swim " de natación (4 km), la " Around-Oahu Bike Race " de ciclismo (180 km) y el " Marathon of Honolulu " (42 km 195 m). Collins propuso hacer las tres seguidas. El ganador sería considerado el "Ironman" (Hombre de Hierro). Las primeras ediciones de esta prueba destinada a convertirse en uno de los más espectaculares desafíos deportivos afrontados por el ser humano, fueron en Waikiki, pero en 1981 la sede se trasladó a Kona, en la Isla Grande de Hawaii. Desde aquel entonces la cita anual es el sábado de octubre más cercano a luna llena.
Hoy en día, el Ironman sigue en el mismo formato, y Hawaii como la sede del campeonato mundial, con la diferencia de que actualmente acuden de 1.500 a 2.000 atletas a la cita mundial en la Isla, y con competidores profesionales dedicados a este deporte considerado como el más difícil del mundo. El premio para el vencedor es de 100.000 (dólares)
Posteriormente al Ironman en Hawaii se fueron creando nuevos eventos de formato Ironman, con las mismas distancias, en otros países del mundo, que congregan a muchos triatletas, entre profesionales y amateurs para buscar un cupo al campeonato mundial en Hawaii.
Hoy
La estructura actual del Ironman sigue sin cambios, y el Ironman de Hawaii, todavía se mira como el acontecimiento más honorable y prestigioso del triatlón a ganar por todo el mundo. Muchos consideran este, como el deporte más difícil de la historia mundial. Para el 25to aniversario, el 18 de octubre de 2003, alistaron a casi 1500 atletas, la mayor parte de ellos tuvieron que pasar a través de competiciones para quedar seleccionados (aunque algunos fueron admitidos con la Lotería Ironman).
Aunque los millares de atletas por todo el mundo compiten en un Ironman cada año, la mayoría de los participantes simplemente corre para realizar algún tiempo específico como desafío personal, o solo para acabar la carrera aunque se lleguen al tiempo limite (17 horas). Solamente los atletas profesionales compiten para obtener una buena posición en Hawaii. En la comunidad del triatlón, la gente que termina uno de estos eventos, se les reconoce como “Ironman”: el plural, “Ironmans” refiere a múltiplos de “Ironman” como forma corta de “Triatlón Ironman”.

TWICE COOKED MELTING PORK BELLY 1.Place the pork belly (200 gm), ginger paste 1 tbsp,garlic paste 1 tbsp,corrinder and mint fine paste 2tbsp, star anise, wine vinegar and fish sauce 1 tbsp ,black pepper into a kitchen pp bag and make it air locked and put into hot water and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and simmer gently for 25to 30 minutes, turning the pork once or twice during the cooking process to ensure even cooking. Once tender remove from the heat.
2.Preheat the oven to 215°C or light up charcoal…..
3.Remove the belly from the stock, remove the skin and a little of the fat below the skin (opp). Place on a roasting tray, Mix together the bbq sauce* over the pork belly. Place in the preheated oven and cook for 15-20 minutes, turning often.
That remove skin put into the oven and make it crispy.
4.Remove the belly from the oven and place on a serving plate. Slice and serve garnished with bbq sauce and crispy skin.
5. * BBQ sauce….. Fry the onion and garlic in oil with the chilli, fennel seeds and sugar.
6.Add the soy sauce, fish sauce, ketchup,season with salt and pepper .now add the remaining portion of liqued form the pp bag.
7.Bring to the boil and simmer for a few minutes to combine the flavours. Use as a dip or to coat, chicken , pork….enjoy .
