My friends/family and I had planned a day(??)trip to the high desert for peak Perseids meteor shower viewing but were thwarted by clouds. So, we gave it a go the next day - clear and crisp all night long, lots of oohs and aaahs.

This is my single-frame fave from 8 hours' shooting time, two cameras, for a couple of reasons. The northern end of the Milky Way shines over those Joshua Tree NP boulders, and then of course there's the meteor - has some nice color in it. Just natural light on those boulders, by the way. Check it large for a good look at the color in that meteor. Andromeda Galaxy way to the lower right there too.

Na dat de Motorposten niet meer door de posterijen werden gebruilkt, reden ze nog enkele jaren treinen tussen de Nedtrain werkplaatsen, de zogenaamde werkplaatstreinen. NS MP-3003 komt via de Hofplijn aan bij de Werkplaats in Leidschendam aan, met aan de haak twee goederenwagens met onderdelen.

After the Motorposts were no longer used by the postal service, they ran trains between the Nedtrain workshops, the so-called workshop trains, for several years. NS MP-3003 arrives via Hofplijn at the Werkplaats in Leidschendam, with two freight wagons with parts on the hook.

Common teal on the lookout.....

Common and pretty dabbling ducks, teal gather in large numbers in winter on flooded gravel pits, reservoirs and floodplain meadows. Many of these birds are migrants from the cold climes of the Baltic and Siberia. In summer, teal breed in small numbers in the UK, mostly in the north.
