Rosa 'Lady of Shalott' 23W23 DAR V2- (Austin, 2009) English Leander Hybrid Shrub Rose DAR, Mature plant size: 5x4ft., ORANGE, Orange Yellow, 60 petals, USDA Hardiness Zone 4-10, Michigan Bloom Week ISO WW23, In Garden Bed V2 for 4.1 YEARS (David). Planted in 2019.

DAR: Rosa 'Ausnyson' [LADY OF SHALOTT]. One of the most reliable and hardy roses in our collection - an ideal rose for the inexperienced gardener. It is highly resistant to disease and will bloom with unusual continuity throughout the season. The young buds are a rich orange-red that open to form chalice-shaped blooms, filled with loosely arranged petals. Each petal has a salmon pink upper side, which contrasts beautifully with the attractive golden yellow reverse. The flowers have a pleasant, warm Tea fragrance, with hints of spiced apple and cloves. It quickly forms a large, bushy shrub with slightly arching stems. The mid-green leaves have attractive, slightly bronzed tones when young.

Baptisia 'Brownie Points' 23W23 Baptisia U2- (Hans Hansen) False Indigo Baptisia, Mature plant size: 36x40in., BROWN, caramel-brown flowers (aka yellow), USDA Hardiness Zone 3, Michigan Bloom Month 6a, In Garden Bed U2 for 5.8 YEARS (Hallson). Planted in 2017.

Chicago Botanic Garden: Brownie Points false indigo represents a color breakthrough in the breeding program from Walters Gardens. The blooms are a warm amber color with a touch of yellow at the base of each flower.

Members of the genus Baptisia are commonly known as wild or false indigo due to their use by early Americans as a blue dye. Although "indigo" is in the common name, the blooms of native species may be blue, yellow or white and the blooms of newer hybrids may include lavenders and bi-colors. The late spring or early summer flowers emerge along long stems held above attractive foliage and are followed in the fall by dark pods. Overall habits of the plant are broad-rounded mounds to vase-shaped and range in height from two to five feet. Baptisia are considered easy-to-grow, sun-loving, long-lived perennials with very good drought

Baptisia 'Brownie Points' has unusual caramel-brown flowers with a yellow keel, flowering on 10in. spikes in June above a bushy, rounded clump. It grows 3 to 3 1/2' high and wide. (PP#26624)

In its third year (2020), it really looks strong. Good color and many stems. Measures 40x40 inches. I am not sure it is a color breakthrough, but I really like the color.

Double flower form, large, rose-red with a possible purple hue (color fades with age and white edging has been observed). A tall plant. Staking is usually required. Mr. Franklin released close to 100 peonies between 1928-1942. A few are still popular today: Mrs. A. B. Franklin, A B Franklin, Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Minuet.

Mildew in 2020, still no blooms. Need to move. Moved to n4,07b on 10/8/2020. Had many buds, but I did not divide. Looking good in 2023.

Mt.Cuba Center: Baptisia ‘Cherries Jubilee’ is the closest there is to a red-flowered false indigo. Vivid maroon buds become a muted rust color as the flowers age. When viewed up close, the color is very striking, but when viewed from a distance the floral display takes on a slightly duller orange tone due the yellow keel

(inner portion of the flower) blending with the reddish outer petals. In peak bloom ‘Cherries Jubilee’ has an impressive 280 inflorescences over its medium-sized habit (36”h x 48”w), creating a truly spectacular display

2011 Hans Hansen introduction makes a well-branched 3' tall x 3' wide clump, topped in late April (NC) with flower stalks adorned with dark mahogany buds that open to cinnamon colored flowers, highlighted by yellow keels. As with all baptisia, its drought tolerance and deer-resistance are legendary. Mt. Cuba rating 4.7

Baptisia 'Solar Flare' 23W23 Baptisia F2- (Ault, 2009) PRAIRIE BLUES™ Wild Indigo Baptisia, Mature plant size: 48x80in., YELLOW, lemon yellow flowers, USDA Hardiness Zone 3, Michigan Bloom Month 6a, In Garden Bed F2 for 6.0 YEARS (Hallson). Planted in 2017.

Mt.Cuba Center: Baptisia ‘Solar Flare’ has an impressive floral display, with numerous 21” inflorescences; however, this cultivar becomes floppy right around the time it reaches peak bloom. Given the numerous options for a yellow-flowered Baptisia, it is hard to recommend ‘Solar Flare’ over cultivars like ‘Sunny Morning’, ‘Lemon Meringue’ and ‘Screamin’ Yellow’.

Baptisia 'Solar Flare' Prairieblues™ is a large hybrid Baptisia with lemon yellow flowers that develop a rusty orange blush, blooming in early summer on 2' long spikes over a mound of blue-green foliage. Overall the clumps can grow up to 4' tall and wide. (PP#20408). Mt. Cuba rating 3.9

2021 note: Seems to sucker?
