A late 1990s type consist rolls above Crystal City, MO on BNSF's River Subdivision with H STLMEM4 22A. Below is Union Pacific's little used Crystal City Industrial Lead.

Rock that dates back to the Precambrian Period (over 3 Billion Years ago) provides the back drop as BNSF’s Laurel, MT to Pueblo, CO freight (H-LAUPUE1-22A) passes over the Wind River as it exits the incredible Wind River Canyon, north of Shoshoni, WY. Originally a Chicago, Burlington & Quincy route, the train is running on a “new” alignment completed in 1950. The old alignment can be seen below the current one with one of the old wood-lined tunnels. The route was relocated to higher ground for the construction of the nearby Boysen Dam.

The ESF stands for "Experimentelles Sicherheitsfahrzeug"
(Experimental Safety Vehicle).
