After sitting for a while waiting for his nannies, Bei quickly stands up when someone walks up to the howdy window (you can sort of see a pair of legs behind the fence)

The Lockheed D-21B, a Cold War-era unmanned reconnaissance drone, had a modest profile. Measuring 43 feet in length with a 19-foot wingspan, it achieved speeds up to Mach 3.3 at altitudes of 95,000 feet. Primarily designed for surveillance, it housed standard intelligence-gathering equipment for its time.
I thought this cold be a caption b ^^.
Also I have to show the new hair cut... Well... I think is a complete mess... xD
My mother is not the best hair cutter. Next time I'll rely on any friend ^^.
I may look like I'm trying to take off in this photo, but unlike my superheroic namesake, I can't actually fly. It's just a bit of exuberance on a rainy, stay-at-home kind of day :-)
I wore this outfit (sans heels!) on a little day road trip and, among other things, had the most interesting conversation with one of the volunteers at the little Gardner Historical Museum. Without her stories, the artifacts were just old things on display. But with her stories, they and the people behind them came alive and became oh, so meaningful.
That's why I love road trips...all the little serendipities you encounter and the lovely people you meet.
With and without the cardigan...we are in that transitional part of the year when it's cold in the morning (need a sweater) and hot in the afternoon (sweater not needed, and besides, it looks dumb in the warm sun).
Apropos of nothing, I have a recurring memory that arises almost every day that I'd like to share. I have to think that most TGs have the same one:
When I was passing through puberty, and waiting for those moments alone in the house when I could get into my mother's closet, there was a short period--just months, as I recall--when my feet were just the right size to slide comfortably into my mother's high-heeled shoes. Before that time, my feet were too small, and after, much too big. But for a few precious months, and on a few precious occasions, those beautiful 60's-era heels just glided onto my stockinged feet (her stockings, of course, fastened to her girdle).
I missed that for a long, long time. Now, though, every day, my feet slide (there really isn't any other verb for it, is there?) into my shoes with ease and comfort. Flats, heels, it's all the same---and every time, I get a frisson of cascaded memory---happiness when I could do it, all those years ago; frustration when I was no longer able to do so; and validation, now that I can.
A case could be made, I think that transgenderism itself is nothing more than an elaborate excursion into unbridled nostalgia.
What do you think?
An Open Question to the Flickrverse
I wear a lot of sleeveless, cap-sleeve, and short-sleeve tops. I know women my age tend not to wear them, because they may have arm flaps, but I am fortunate in that I don't have that particular challenge.
I always wonder, though, if my arms are still too male in appearance. This photo, showing my arms so clearly, is as uncompromising a picture as I've ever posted.
So my question is: Are my arms too male-looking? Or do they just look like a fit woman's?
Please be honest!
I'm meeting a good friend (a highly respected fellow tutor) for lunch today, and although he's totally not interested in me in THAT WAY, I still wanted to honor him by looking as good as possible--while still being appropriate for a a casual lunch.
This is kind of a variation on a favorite outfit...same skirt and sweater, but a pink top, which required a whole re-think of the jewelry (oh, the burden of it all...!). Plus my very fun, new kitten heeled pumps.
Deciding what to wear to my tutoring job is always a bit of a balancing act. It's a college campus, where casual-to-sloppy attire is de rigueur. But it's a college campus, which I think requires a certain formality, at least for the educators (sadly, the teachers are oftentimes as uncaring as the students in what they wear...but I'm from a very different era. )
So this was my choice for the high wire a few days ago. A denim skirt, kind of casual, but a nice top and pendant and, of course, my favorite kitten heels.
I doubt anyone noticed, much less cared, but standards are standards, and they're there for a reason.
But...well, full disclosure: I have to admit that I knew that I would be posting these photos here on Flickr, and my legs always garner nice comments. So I'm not altogether altruistic; a healthy dose of vanity went into the outfit too!
I love this very cute skirt (culottes, actually), but I wonder if it's a little "Old lady trying too hard to look like a younger woman", or even worse "Old TG trying to hard too look like a younger woman"? Remember, I'm 6'4" and try hard to minimize that. These culottes emphasize my singular tallosity too much, I think.
Or am I over-thinking it again?
I'm still waiting for Spring! Maybe a SPRING outfit will help to hurry it along?
The Farmer's Market opens tomorrow morning; this is what I'll wear...if it's not too cold!
A favorite Ronni Nichole dress I haven't worn for awhile, but with summertime time temps finally registering on the thermometer, I thought I'd pull it out of the closet.
I was talking to a colleague at work this morning, and in the conversation I mentioned my age--68. She was very surprised at that, and went on to say that she thought I was 15 years younger...Ah, the bliss of the unexpected compliment!
The challenge with Fall is to use the limited palette of colors to best advantage. I could, of course, just wear the muted colors and leave it at that, but there is a admittedly bit of the exhibitionist in me. I still want to have at least a little something to set me apart (what, Diana, being 6'4" isn't enough for you? Sheesh...)
I was thrilled to find this cardigan. The fabric is a warm cotton/poly blend, very plain, but the double line of rhinestones gives it just that bit of flair that I like. It also fits snugly but not tight, which is what I look for in a top.
I found the skirt at the same time, and it's a perfect length and color for fall. I think they pair together well...a bit plain, perhaps, but nicely coordinated.
And the colors in the heels are almost a perfect match...BONUS!
Addendum: After posting this photo, I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things. As I was checking out, the young man bagging my items said, "I like your outfit!" He couldn't have been much, if at all, older than 16, the legal age to work.
Now if only he had been single, and 50, or even 40 or 30 years older (and single)....
Hmmm...not sure if this outfit is completely working. I'm off on a little afternoon road trip, so Iwanted to be comfortable, but I just don't know if this hangs together altogether completely.
Really need some fresh eyes on this one!
Another day that's Spring on the calendar but more like Fall on the thermometer...hence the sweater.
It's interesting how two different colors--the sweater and skirt-- can work together if they match in tone. Pulled together by the top and topped off with the headband...I particularly like this outfit!
With apologies to Julie Andrews, Vanessa Redgrave, and all the beautiful actresses who have ever portrayed Guinevere on stage or screen:
Tra la! It's May!
The lusty month of May!
That lovely month when ev'ryone goes
Blissfully astray.
Tra la! It's here!
That shocking time of year
When tons of wicked little thoughts
Merrily appear!
It's May! It's May!
That gorgeous holiday
When ev'ry maiden prays that her lad
Will be a cad!
It's mad! It's gay!
A libelous display!
Those dreary vows that ev'ryone takes,
Ev'ryone breaks.
Ev'ryone makes divine mistakes
The lusty month of May!
