Ex-Conrail CSXT GP38-2 #2756 still wearing the YN2 livery leads the Edgewood Local consisting of an un-patched Seabord Coast Line caboose (SDB 21171) and a tank car for Reichhold Inc. Really rare to catch YN2 EMDs these days, so this was quite a positive surprise. It was also nice to see them use the Seabord caboose this day.

Das erste aufgenommene Foto aus Dol pri Hrastovljah am 5. September 2023, dem ersten kompletten Tag an der Koperrampe, möchte ich Euch heute präsentieren. Es zeigt die 521-103 der SZ mit einem Kesselwagenzug auf dem Weg von Ljubljana Zalog ranzirna nach Koper tovorna. Eines meiner wenigen Bilder, die einen slowenischen Taurus als Zuglok zeigen. Zudem noch das einzige entstanden Foto dieser Lok+Zug-Kombination. Alle weiteren KeWa-Züge während der drei Tage an der Rampenstrecke waren mit Knicknasen bespannt. Die bereits zuvor schon in meinem Fotostream veröffentlichten Bilder, von der obigen Fotostelle, entstanden alle aus einer leicht anderen bzw. seitlicheren Perspektive. Ich bin mir da bis jetzt nicht so richtig sicher, welche Version mir besser gefällt. In der Version oben hat man dann etwas mehr vom Karstgebirge im Hintergrund, aber dafür den Zug ziemlich spitz auf dem Foto. Als Vergleich zur anderen Perspektive habe ich Euch mal einen Link herausgesucht:

Op 2 en 3 september 2023 vond weer het jaarlijkse stoomtreinenfestival 'Terug naar Toen' bij de VSM plaats, tussen Apeldoorn en Dieren. 'Highlight' was de enkele weken rijvaardige loc 41 241, die na een zeven jaar durende restauratie bij de VSM weer in dienst kwam. Verder namen de VSM-loc 23 071, 23 076, 44 1593, 50 307, 50 3654, 52 3879, 64 415, 65 018, 2459 en 2530 deel. De Stoomstichting Nederland was gekomen met de 01 1075 en de 23 023. Al met al elf stoomloc's en twee diesels.

The canal was created following an act of parliament in 1777 with John Varley appointed as engineer and John and James Pinkerton the main contractors, it was completed in 1779 at a cost of £21,000 (£2,252,740 in modern money). It was a commercial success from the start mainly used to transport coal.
The canal's success kept it going far longer than many of its contemporaries in the face of competition from the railways. When the Grand Union Canal Company took over the running of the Erewash in 1932 it was still a going concern. The canal was nationalised in 1947. By this time the closure of feeder canals resulted in a loss of trade and competition from other forms of transport was making itself felt and the last commercial narrowboat delivered its cargo in 1952. In 1962 the British Transport Commission closed the top section of canal. However, it was kept in water to supply the lower half of the canal and it remained navigable.
In 1968 the Erewash Canal Preservation & Development Association (ECP&DA) was formed in response to a threat by the British Waterways Board to close the canal. One of the ECP&DA's achievements was the re-opening of the Great Northern Basin at Langley Mill. This canal basin was the point at which the Cromford, Erewash and Nottingham Canals met. The Langley Mill Boat Company formed in 1974 and based at the Great Northern Basin has cleared and put back into water a short section of the Cromford Canal connected to the basin.
Today the Erewash Canal is fully open and is actively used by pleasure cruisers. The towpath, which follows the eastern bank, carries Route 67 of the National Cycle Network between the Lawrence Street access and Stanton Lock where the cycle route diverges to follow the Nutbrook Valley. The canal is also regularly restocked with fish for anglers, and along the eastern tow path dozens of anglers are often seen.

#DublinBay - As Afloat previously reported the recent arrival of Stena Carrier to Dun Laoghaire Harbour was a surprise to many an onlooker as the imposing vessel towered above Carlisle Pier, writes Jehan Ashmore.
Stena Carrier is the largest ever ro-ro (freight-ferry) ship to enter Dun Laoghaire Harbour having anchored in Dublin Bay for over a week.
The call to the harbour was to permit carrying out surveys of the 182m long vessel. Furthermore, Afloat can reveal that works also involved the ro-ro's landing gear and the loading of stores at Carlisle Pier (see related story). The ship remains in port apparently awaiting a new charter.
The 2004 Italian built '4Runner' class Stena Carrier is operated by Stena RoRo, part of the Stena group of shipping interests and not to be confused with their ferry division Stena Line.
At 21,000 gross registered tonnage Stena Carrier surpasses the no-longer in service 19,000grt High-Speed Service (HSS) Stena Explorer. The HSS car-carrying catamaran craft operated the Dun Laoghaire-Holyhead fastferry seasonal route until a final crossing from the Irish port took place from St. Micheal's Pier (see related story) in September 2014.
In the following year, Stena officially announced to confirm the service be withdrawn and that the HSS would no longer return that season. This marked the end of the historic Ireland-Wales link dating back for more than 150 years. The move saw Stena consolidate existing services in neighbouring Dublin Port where operations to Holyhead are served by two ferries.
The Stena Carrier's location alongside Carlisle Pier is opposite to the East Pier where the harbour's only passenger carrying operator is Dublin Bay Cruises.
Prior to the arrival of Stena Carrier, the ro-ro vessel in recent weeks was on charter to P&O Ferries on their Dublin-Liverpool service.
The ships' port of registry is Frederikshavn in Denmark.

#DublinBay - As Afloat previously reported the recent arrival of Stena Carrier to Dun Laoghaire Harbour was a surprise to many an onlooker as the imposing vessel towered above Carlisle Pier, writes Jehan Ashmore.
Stena Carrier is the largest ever ro-ro (freight-ferry) ship to enter Dun Laoghaire Harbour having anchored in Dublin Bay for over a week.
The call to the harbour was to permit carrying out surveys of the 182m long vessel. Furthermore, Afloat can reveal that works also involved the ro-ro's landing gear and the loading of stores at Carlisle Pier (see related story). The ship remains in port apparently awaiting a new charter.
The 2004 Italian built '4Runner' class Stena Carrier is operated by Stena RoRo, part of the Stena group of shipping interests and not to be confused with their ferry division Stena Line.
At 21,000 gross registered tonnage Stena Carrier surpasses the no-longer in service 19,000grt High-Speed Service (HSS) Stena Explorer. The HSS car-carrying catamaran craft operated the Dun Laoghaire-Holyhead fastferry seasonal route until a final crossing from the Irish port took place from St. Micheal's Pier (see related story) in September 2014.
In the following year, Stena officially announced to confirm the service be withdrawn and that the HSS would no longer return that season. This marked the end of the historic Ireland-Wales link dating back for more than 150 years. The move saw Stena consolidate existing services in neighbouring Dublin Port where operations to Holyhead are served by two ferries.
The Stena Carrier's location alongside Carlisle Pier is opposite to the East Pier where the harbour's only passenger carrying operator is Dublin Bay Cruises.
Prior to the arrival of Stena Carrier, the ro-ro vessel in recent weeks was on charter to P&O Ferries on their Dublin-Liverpool service.
The ships' port of registry is Frederikshavn in Denmark.
