Wie bereits bei meinem vorletzten Bild erwähnt, fand am 07./08.08.2021 ein Retro-Wochenende am Balaton statt. Neben der schon gezeigten Nohab nahm auch M41.2103 im komplett roten Farbkleid an der Veranstaltung teil. Am Abend bespannte sie den IC 19706 nach Szombathely.
Links im Hintergrund ist die auf einem Hügel errichtete Burg Sümeg zu sehen, sie entstand ab der zweiten Hälfte des 13. Jahrhunderts. Heute ist sie für Touristen zugänglich und es finden Ritterspiele statt.
Vanwege werkzaamheden rondom station Zwolle werden de containertreinen van en naar Coevorden omgeleid via Almelo en het diesellijntje naar Mariënberg.
Op 5 Juni 2018 is de IRP 2103 onderweg met Coevorden shuttle 50420 vanuit Rotterdam naar Coevorden als deze Teuge passeert.
Inmiddels is ook deze locomotief in de bekende roze IRP kleuren gestoken.
A 2020-as második balatoni retróhétvégén debütált az akkor frissen fényezett retró inga a 2103-as Csörgővel.

NS had grootse plannen met het materieel SM ‘90 dat bedoeld was om Mat ‘64 te kunnen vervangen. Daartoe liet NS negen prototypes bouwen bij Talbot. Uiteindelijk kwamen de zogeheten Railhoppers niet veel verder dan de sporen rondom Zwolle. Hoewel de treinstellen qua vormgeving niet de hoofdprijs verdienden, vormden ze wel de basis voor het iets succesvollere DM ‘90-materieel. Op deze foto staat Railhopper 2103 langs het perron van station Zwolle, 20 juli 1996.

The retro livery M41 is one of good reason to the south of Hungary, where this class is operated on the line 135 (Szeged - Hodmezovasarhely - Bekescsaba) regional trains. Captured in the last rays of sun on this surprisingly snowy January afternoon is the M41.2103 with the regional train Sz. 7723, arriving to the Oroshaza station. The loc is well known for its particular sound, probably a reason for the train driver wearing quite visible ear protection. :)
Shortly after sunrise I spotted this Coyote patrolling a prairie dog town. Prairie dogs are notoriously late risers, and on cold winter days they remain in a state of torpidity, deep underground in their dens. But the days are warming. This morning it was -5C when I left home, but warmed to +9C by early afternoon. Very little snow remains, not that we had much this winter.
Coyote knew that eventually there would be rodent action, and therefore found a shady spot to curl up, take a nap, and wait inconspicuously for a chance at a meal. The prairie dogs would be up in due time, hungry, foraging for something to eat (nothing is growing yet, but they will dig up various plant roots). It's always about a meal. Coyote looked healthy; he has been eating regularly.
I had some homemade crackers, a bag of mixed nuts, and a bottle of water in my car; no hunger, no worries. I drove on to see what else might be happening in the park, now that winter's on the run.

A 2019 évi első retróhétvége újonca, a 2103-as Csörgő dübörög füredi személyvonatával Badacsonyörs és Ábrahámhegy között.

It’s the time of year again… It seems like almost every March, Northern Ontario gets one last taste of winter and this year is no different. 30-35cm of snow over the past day makes it challenging to go places by road, however on the iron road things still roll flawlessly. With the horn being held down for almost a mile at this point to prevent snow from building on the roof, SD75i #2103 passing through the community of Barbers Bay. Barbers Bay is a sub town of Timmins built off the Ramore sub and is known for getting some of the biggest snowdrifts on the system, so once the snow hit I knew I had to get there to photograph some of the last drift busting shots of this year and like always, it hasn’t disappointed.
Vanwege werkzaamheden tussen Bentheim en Ibbenburen [D] was er in 2018 een hele week geen treinverkeer mogelijk via die route. Zodoende moest de Pinnowshuttle van de Bentheimer Eisenbahn, die normaliter niet in Nederland te zien is, een grote omweg maken via Emmerich. Voor het leveren van tractie werd de toen nog blauw/grijze 2103 van IRP ingezet, die de met diervoeder beladen trein op woensdag naar Coevorden bracht. Op vrijdag 6 april 2018 werden de inmiddels geleegde (voornamelijk) Foodtrans tankcontainers weer terug gebracht met dezelfde IRP 2103. Onder een heerlijk lentezonnetje zien we de fraaie trein opvallend aan slechts twee fotografen passeren op weg naar Emmerich als trein 45789 ter hoogte van de boog bij Nijkerk.
After dropping a small cut of cars at the south end of Los Reyes Yard, 2103 and sister 2101 couple back to their train left on the main, now mainly composed of cement cars bound for the Cemex plant at VK-31, with the rest of the train being grain hoppers bound for the VK-42.

Van 6 tot 22 Juli was het station van Zwolle grotendeels onbereikbaar voor treinen in verband met grootschalige werkzaamheden. Hierdoor werden ook een aantal goederentreinen omgeleid, zo ook de Coevorden shuttle die via Mariënberg en Almelo naar Kijfhoek reed. Op 16 Juli 2019 is de IRP 2103 met Coevorden shuttle 50419 onderweg vanaf Coevorden richting Almelo en uiteindelijk Kijfhoek als deze Beerzerveld passeert.
After photographing the DATS overhead line test train making its way back to base at Rectory Junction I started to walk home. However, a fellow photographer I passed informed me that new celebrity HST power car 43102 was on the rear of 1B63, 16:45 Nottingham – St Pancras due in about fifteen minutes. Despite the rapidly failing light I decided to wait for it and this is the result, 2nd March 2021.
Locomotive History
43102 was built at Crewe Works and entered service in October 1978. It was one of a batch of sixty six power cars built to power thirty two, eight coach HST sets for Eastern Region services and was initially formed as part of set 254024. Following the completion of ECML electrification 43102 was one of twenty eight class 43 power cars allocated to Western Region although it was allocated to the pool for West Coast Main Line services between Euston and Holyhead. The HST sets for these West Coast services were supplied by the Western Region and the services commenced in September 1991. In April 1992 it transferred into the general Western Region power car pool and this was followed by a transfer into the Cross Country pool in May 1995 allocated to Laira. In September 2003 it was placed in store at MOD Bicester and remained in store until the summer of 2004 when it transferred to the Great North Eastern Railway fleet and returned to East Coast Main Line duties. It was admitted to the Brush works, Loughborough in January 2008 to be “re-engineered” and has had its original Paxman Valenta engine replaced by a MTU unit. It re-entered service on the East Coast Main Line in April 2008 re-numbered 43302. It is of course the world speed record holder for diesel traction having reached a speed of 148mph during bogie tests in November 1987.
.Following withdrawal in May 2021 it has been acquired by the National Railway Museum and is currently (April 2025) at Locomotion, Shildon.
