Diamond's MX57 UPW (20522) is seen arriving at the Foster Avenue, Studley stop while operating a 67 Studley Circular back to Redditch Bus Station. The 67 operates up to every hour (Mon-Sat) and doesn't operate on a Sunday. Monday to Friday, this Solo operates the 182/183 (Redditch-Lickey Hills-Bromsgrove). MX57UPW was new in February 2008 to Hutt, Finstock, as their 411. For some reason, when it was first acquired by the Rotala PLC for their Diamond operation, it had the fleetnumber 20914 but has since been renumbered 20522. It still wears the Black Diamond livery. The driver of the bus is sound as a pound. 522 is an Optare Solo M880SL Slimline model.

Seen while laying over near Alvechurch is one of Redditch's Solos. The condition of a vehicles wear and tear is not only determined by the engineering department, but also by the drivers. As the result of a hot day, and a high temperature gauge reading, the driver rightly decided to pull over for a few minutes to allow the bus to cool down, preventing any damage being done to the bus. With this Solo being the regular bus for the 182 and 183, this is essential because without a good bus running efficiently, then the passengers would be left without a lifeline.

Diamond's MX57 UPW (20522) is seen laying over while operating a 183 back towards Redditch Bus Station. The 182/183 operate with 2 journeys each way (Monday to Friday only) between Redditch and Bromsgrove. The route goes via the Alvechurch and the Lickey Hills, and on the way serves small villages and places that would otherwise be unconnected. Diamond allocate one regular driver on the route, which is good because it means that the passengers can get to know their driver, keeping common ground, and building a trust between the operator and the passengers. As a result of this, the driver puts care into his route, knowing where is safer and more convenient to drop off his passengers in the hail and ride zones, and by having one regular bus, means that as an issue occurs, it can be noticed, for example, the higher operating temperature on the day of the photo. When the driver pulled over, he explained the situation to the few passengers he had on, who were grateful because it means they won't be uncomfortable from heat entering the saloon, and meaning that they would still get to their destination safely and efficiently the following days. 522 is an Optare Solo M880SL Slimline model.

As a side note, the driver of the route is sound as a pound, and seems to have built a good bond with his passengers. He is an absolute credit to Diamond and the Rotala PLC as a whole.

Diamond's MX57 UPW (20522) is seen parked at the top of Redditch Bus Station having arrived in off a 182 from the Lickey Hills, and before taking a 183 to Bromsgrove. The 182/183 operate with 2 journeys each way (Monday to Friday only) between Redditch and Bromsgrove. The route goes via the Alvechurch and the Lickey Hills, and on the way serves small villages and places that would otherwise be unconnected. This Solo is the allocated vehicle for the route, which does two trips on Track (Matchborough Circular), on the 58 side, before having a break and running dead to the Lickey Hills for the first lifeline bus of the day. The driver of the route is the same every day, which is a good thing because it means he can connect with the passengers... He is sound as a pound, very polite and a credit to Diamond and the Rotala PLC. MX57UPW was new in February 2008 to Hutt, Finstock, as their 411. For some reason, when it was first acquired by the Rotala PLC for their Diamond operation, it had the fleetnumber 20914 but has since been renumbered 20522. Thanks to a poorly parked car, that always parks in the way, Diamond's 182/183 can sometimes be delayed and forced to reverse (with the help of other kind road users banking him). Today the car was parked so the bus could just about get through, but I have been told by the driver that the owner of the car sometimes shouts at him because he is unhappy about having to move his car. Does this man not know what common sense is!? After all, the bus route operates 5 days a week, and Diamond have had the contract for nearly a month now using the same bus.

Diamond's MX57 UPW (20522) is seen squeezing passed a disrespectful and poorly parked road user on Upland Grove, while operating a 183 towards Bromsgrove Bus Station. The 183 operates between Redditch Bus Station and Bromsgrove via the Lickey Hills and Alvechurch. The bus also does the 182 (Rdh-Bromsgrove, and a short to the Lickey Hills). 20522 is the usual allocation for 182/183, and the driver in the photo is the regular for the route. He is polite and seems to get on well with his passengers, not that there are many on the small routes. 522 is an Optare Solo M880SL Slimline model.

Having won the contract for the Bromsgrove 182/183 and started the route a few days prior to the photo being taken, Diamond hadn't re-programmed their LEDs on their buses... As a result, when the driver went to put 182 Bromsgrove on the LED, he couldn't. Instead, the destination displayed 182 Alcester School Contract, which runs Redditch to Alcester, St. Benedict's. Before taking the bus out, he noticed it was wrong, and so put an A4 piece of paper in the window with 182 on it. They have since sorted the programming.

Diamond's MX57 UPW (20522) is seen on "the wall," on layover in Redditch Bus Station having ran dead from Bromsgrove after doing a 183, and before taking a 182 across to Bromsgrove. On the day this photo was taken, there was snow on the ground, so the Solo got extra dirty, along with having snow on the front. 522 is an Optare Solo M880SL Slimline model.

This Optare Solo is seen in the closing Long Acre depot. MX57UPW was new to Hutt, Finstock and has been with RH Buses before being bought by Rotala for their Diamond operation. It later received the fleetnumber 20522.

During the Cyclist Tour Series, Redditch's buses go around the town a different way than normal. This is because Unicorn Hill gets shut off for the cyclists, and as a result the Circular cannot go that way. The 51 and 146 can't go via Hewell Road either, and for the day a double decker could be used on the 51 without straying to go a different way.

Diamond's MX57 UPW (20522) is seen running around Redditch Bus Station, before unloading with a 57 Matchborough Circular. Usually the 57 would arrive in via Unicorn Hill, but instead came via Station Way due to the cycle race. The 57/58 operate up to every 8-10 minutes on each side of the circular. It is Redditch's most popular, and profitable route. 20522 had been used on the 182/183 (Redditch-Bromsgrove) services earlier in the day.

Diamond's MX57 UPW (20522) is seen sat broken at the top of the Redditch Bus Station when it should have been running a 51 to Batchely and back. It's back was up, and so was most likely overheating. Redditch has been having lots of issues recently with their buses due to poor maintenance. MX57UPW was new in February 2008 to Hutt, Finstock, as their 411. For some reason, when it was first acquired by Diamond it had the fleetnumber 20914 but has since been renumbered 20522. It still wears the Black Diamond livery.

MX57 UPS (20913), an Optare Solo, is seen unloading at Toms Town Lane/Fosters Avenue, Studley, with a 67 service before going back to Redditch Bus Station. This Solo is one of five Solo's being gained by Redditch depot from Tividale for use on services 34, 38, 50 and 69. Also reportedly the 28A service. The Solos moved over are 20522 (MX57 UPW/Previously numbered 20914), 20839 (YJ54 BUA), 20868 (MX08 MZE), 20869 (MX08 MZD) and 20913 (as seen in the photo). MX57UPS and MX57UPW were "new" to Hutt, Finstock and has been with RH Buses before being bought by Rotala PLC for their Diamond operation. They were supplied by Mistral Bus & Coach. MX08MZD and MX08MZE were "new" to Peterborough City Council, also supplied by Mistral. YJ54BUA was new to Rossendale Transport Ltd. (now Rosso), a municipal company.

20914, an Optare bodied Solo is seen at the Rotala garage in Birmingham. This Solo is unusual in that it carries the black diamond livery rather then the blue diamond livery that the Long Acre allocated buses carry. 20914 was delivered new to Hutt, Finstock as their 411.
