CN 2025 leads two more Dash 8s south approaching Munger, MN, with Minntac limestone empties on the morning of September 27, 2020. This U714 was flying at track speed on its way to tie up at Proctor Yard.

CN 2025, plus another Dash 8 and IC SD40, haul a fresh load of iron pellets out of Minntac as it rounds the curve near Route 169 bound for Two Harbors.

It's a shame these Dash 8's are on the way out, but that's progress. I really enjoyed photographing them.

With a Dash 8 leading a pair of SD40's, Canadian National U713 rolls south through the bog at Zim, Minnesota as it heads south on the Missabe with a loaded ore train from Minntac bound for Proctor.

In a foggy afternoon at the end of December, the shunting locomotive D.255.2025 of Trenitalia Cargo stops in the railway yard of the Ferrara station in waiting for the next services.

Minntac bound U790 approaches the diamond at Ramshaw with a typical trio of C40-8s for power. With the supposed impending arrival of GE rebuilds, the Dash 8s are likely ticking off their final miles in service. While I wouldn't be surprised if many of the EMDs assigned to the Missabe end up in yard or local service throughout the system, it's probably a safe bet that the Dash 8s will be retired and cut up for scrap.

If this is a Lavender Dancer damselfly, it is a relatively rare find indeed. The range is close enough to make it possible. The colors are spot on. There is a distinct difference between it and the new species from last week, the Emma's Dancer. I'll research it a bit more, but I really need to have two more images. Does it matter? Yeah, sort of although I don't keep a list since the most species I'll ever have without traveling will be 22 give or take. Besides, it's a beauty as is the pink dolomite rock that it's on. If nothing else, I have a new ... species of rock ;-)

Sorry, this is a bit delayed. Ive got a bit behind on my postings. This is from new years eve 2024/2025. Shot taken at Mullaloo beach at sunset. I could not resist the colours and the water in this shot.

2025 A.C

During the years after Corona Virus swept the earth, mankind is still struggling to pick up the pieces. Strange though it seems, the biggest killer was not the virus itself, which burned itself out soon enough, with mostly the infirm, the elderly, and those too stupid to stay inside for 14 days, succumbing.

No, the most insidious part came after, in a world where toilet paper was now as rare and valuable as gold. Without a sufficient supply of soft tissue to caress our buttocks, tempers flared, old grudges resurfaced, as once normal people became ravening lunatics, driven by the all consuming desire to poop in comfort.

Soon, scientists had a name for the craze sweeping the globe, far faster than Corona did..the Shit Show. And so it was, with hordes of near mindless people roaming the streets, with nary a clean pair of trousers among them, all searching for those near mythical stocks of Toilet Paper.

This is a remake of one of my favorite photos I ever took from 2012. An extraordinary experience I won't bore you with. I was just a beginner photographer, and was in awe ... so didn't do so well. Only shot in .JPG as I did for so many years. I edit and reedit this photo over and over. It's not perfect, but it's a perfect way to wish anyone who visits a very blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm pretty sure these are Osceola Wild Turkey also known as the Florida Turkey which can only be found on the Florida peninsula. This bird is smaller and darker in color than the Eastern Wild Turkey and was named after the famous Seminole Chief Osceola in 1890.

Psalm 100 KJV A Psalm of praise.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

UPDATE, APRIL, 2025: Are you interested in checking out big, awesome prints of

my photos? This was one of 14 photos displayed in an exhibition of my work at Slice of Light gallery in beautiful downtown Santa Barbara, California. Come check it out!

I'm not sure how long you've been following (or if you even follow) my work, but if you're at all familiar with my photos of the Oregon coast at night you've probably seen this waterfall before. It's pretty easy to get to when the tide's right. (Although I've mis-calculated my timing before, which resulted in my phone's death-by-saltwater.)

What I've learned, though, is that the tide is not often right. At least not often right enough to capture this waterfall with the right moon phase, with the Milky Way in the right part of the sky, or with the right cloud-free conditions.

Aside from those logistical concerns, in recent years, and this is probably at least partly my fault, more and more people are showing up to this waterfall at all hours of the day and night, and unfortunately they're bringing some destructive behaviors with them.

This particular night, however, I had the area to myself, and let me tell you there's nothing more relaxing than taking photos of the night sky while sandwiched between the roar of a winter waterfall and the pounding surf. It was an amazing feeling.

In this photo, you can see Orion (to the left of the sky) and Andromeda (just above the setting moon, which is circled by a moondog). Next to the moon is Venus. And even closer to the moon is Mars, but I goofed and didn't control my highlights very well, and Mars got lost in the highlight wash from the moon, unfortunately. Such is life. But honestly, this photo had enough going on anyway, so I don't feel too bad about losing the red planet.

Thanks for taking a look!

From Wikipedia:

Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is an American national park that conserves an area of large sand dunes up to 750 feet (229 m) tall on the eastern edge of the San Luis Valley, and an adjacent national preserve in the Sangre de Cristo Range, in south-central Colorado, United States.

The park contains the tallest sand dunes in North America. The dunes cover an area of about 30 sq mi (78 km2) and are estimated to contain over 1.2 cubic miles (5 billion cubic metres) of sand. Sediments from the surrounding mountains filled the valley over geologic time periods. After lakes within the valley receded, exposed sand was blown by the predominant southwest winds toward the Sangre de Cristos, eventually forming the dunefield over an estimated tens of thousands of years. The four primary components of the Great Sand Dunes system are the mountain watershed, the dunefield, the sand sheet, and the sabkha. Ecosystems within the mountain watershed include alpine tundra, subalpine forests, montane woodlands, and riparian zones.

Pottery works and bottle oven built 1913, Grade II listed. In 1897 Burslem pottery manufacturer James Macintyre & Co took on 26-year-old RCA graduate William Moorcroft as a designer and within a year he was put in charge of the company's art pottery studio. Moorcroft's first innovative range, the Art Nouveau style 'Florian Ware' was a great success and won him a gold medal in the St.Louis International Exhibition at the 1904 World's Fair. Unusually for the time, he adopted the practice of signing all his pieces. In 1912 Macintyre & Co changed direction to concentrate on commercial ceramic fittings for the burgeoning electrical industry and ceased production of art pottery. William Moorcroft set up his own company and the following year manufacture of his pottery was transferred to a brand new factory in nearby Cobridge. He introduced an extensive line of moderately priced domestic tableware in addition to his famous tube-lined hand painted art pottery which is still the method of decoration used by the company today. In 1926 his beloved wife Flo died of pneumonia complications at the age of 47. Two years later William married his second wife Marian Lazenby, whose family owned the famous London store Liberty's which had supported Moorcroft since the Macintyre days. In the same year, 1928 William's reputation was greatly enhanced when Queen Mary granted William Moorcroft a royal warrant. Shortly before William's death in 1945, his eldest took control of the business; in 1946 King George VI re-issued the royal warrant in Walter's name. However by the 1980's the company come close to collapse which by that stage had just 12 employees, when in 1986 business partners Hugh Edwards and Richard Dennis bought a controlling interest. Walter Moorcroft stayed on as design consultant until 1999 when his final range 'Rock of Ages' which launched. In 1992 Dennis and his pottery designer wife Sally Tuffin sold their shares in Moorcroft Pottery to Hugh & Maureen Edwards who became sole owners. In 1993 Rachel Bishop, recently graduated from Staffordshire University's ceramic design course, joined Moorcroft as only its fourth (and at 24 years of age, the youngest) designer since the company was founded. In 1997 the Moorcroft Design Studio was formed with eight designers working under Rachel's leadership. In 1998 the company built a new facility and launched flambé and sgraffito decorated ranges under the name of Black Ryden and Cobridge. However, in 2006 the venture was closed, the molds and the Burslem Pottery company name was sold to paintress Tracy Bentley, to concentrate on the core business of slip-trailed art pottery. Today Moorcroft studio has 5 designers lead by Rachel Bishop as Senior Designer now in her 30th year with the company. Moorcroft Pottery continues to produce highly collectible art pottery sold in greater numbers than even in the heyday of the 1920’s. Having survived a difficult couple of years due to the pandemic, W. Moorcroft Holdings Ltd goes forward from strength to strength. The company employs 69 highly skilled staff with a turnover of £1.7m backed by substantial assets including ownership of the land and factory buildings at Cobridge together with an extensive and valuable heritage collection – well worth a visit! Taken with a 1976 Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera Alpha 1 on Polaroid (TIP) film.

Postscript. Moorcroft Pottery ceased trading 30th April 2025

Cincinnati is a major city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the government seat of Hamilton County. Settled in 1788, the city is located at the northern side of the confluence of the Licking and Ohio rivers, the latter of which marks the state line with Kentucky. The city is the economic and cultural hub of the Cincinnati metropolitan area, the fastest growing economic power in the Midwestern United States based on increase of economic output, which had a population of 2,190,209 as of the 2018 census estimates. This makes it Ohio's largest metropolitan area and the nation's 29th-largest. With a city population estimated at 303,940, Cincinnati is the third-largest city in Ohio and 64th in the United States.

This tree, which is located on a trail in PEI National Park, always seems to capture my attention and my imagination. In sort, I like it! The late fall colours and the late afternoon hour conspired to light it just about right too.

I've long admired the skills of the LUGNuts builders and enjoyed their monthly challenges, this month's theme finally pushed me over the edge to sign up. More to come.

check out the story :-D

Hope you are not getting fed up with it yet. I wanted to show the buildings in natural light so you can see more building details.

I also added a new base; using a new base technique - again :-D

It's leaves underneath to create a curved surface. Didn't work that well...

I talked to my buddy Emil Lidé about that idea and he came up with something quite better :-D
