Osteospermum is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the Calenduleae, one of the smaller tribes of the sunflower/daisy family Asteraceae. They are known as the daisybushes or African daisies. It has been given several common names: African daisy, South African daisy, Cape daisy and blue-eyed daisy. Osteospermum used to belong to the genus Dimorphotheca, but only the annual species remain in that genus; the perennials belong to Osteospermum. It has been given several common names: African daisy, South African daisy, Cape daisy and blue-eyed daisy. There are about 50 species, native to Africa, 35 species in southern Africa, and the southwestern Arabian Peninsula. They are half-hardy perennials or sub-shrubs. 20108

Whether or not it gets the Private reg from 20108 remains to be seen. Inside it incorporates an Air hockey table, a Computer with Overhead projector which projects onto the inside rear of the bus. It also has a wall mounted TV which if the last bus is anything to go by will be for a games console and has onboard WiFi

This image is a 2000X1250 pixel scan from a slide, print or negative. The vast majority of the shots were scanned during the 2007-2014 period. Some images may be re-uploaded from the earliest versions which were done in a smaller size and are noted accordingly.

The images here from my own collection. They are a combination of my own photographs, as well as those acquired over 40+ years through trading, purchasing, and attending various slide events around the world.

This photostream was initially created in 2017 for archival purposes, and in the years since (to 2023) has had over 11 million image views.

Boeing 737-7H4, Las Vegas 10.11.20108

This is the A609 crossing on the Denby branch, the locomotives had left their empty MGR train and were re-positioning the brake vans for the return (loaded) trip.

This branch line had so many crossings on it, to have put barriers in would have cost more than the revenue it generated. The working of a train had an MGR set with brake van(s) at the rear. On arriving at a crossing the train would stop, the second man would open the gates, the train would pass through, stop, and the guard would close the gates, the train would then proceed to the next crossing and repeat the performance.

We took many shots this day, I think it was the day we were given a cab ride along the last mile or so and into the yard on the pair of 20's. Good? You bet!

20108 was built by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn Ltd, it entered service new to Eastfield 20/12/1961, it was withdrawn 13/09/1991 and cut by the Harry Needle Railroad Company (at Kingsbury) in October 2005.

20215 was built at English Electric as D8315, it entered service new to Thornaby 20/05/1967. The loco was withdrawn 01/03/1992 and cut by C.F. Booth nearly 17 years later in November 2009.

Due to an issue at Harrow all down Euston - Man Picc services originated from St Pancras, at least one of the back pair of 20s had failed at Edale and were rescued by the front pair, which had worked an earlier service themselves.

Railfreight livery 20215 + 20108 & BR blue 20085 + 20026 stabled at Barrow Hill Depot on 27/08/88.

Following problems with shortages of Snow Ploughs on the Scottish Region BR decided to look at more flexible options of fitting locos with bigger ploughs than the standard Minature Snow Ploughs ( MSP) which were only designed for drifts up to 18 inches deep although hey were used in snow many many times deeper !

One type of plough that was considered was the Beilhack Plough , initially trialed on 37124 it was found it would be out of gauge on crossovers and also the class 37 buffer beam was not that strong enough ( even the Class 37s with MSPs aquired slight droops of their bufferbeams after regular ploughing of big drifts) .

Class 20s were stored in abundance on the Scottish Region at the time , all serviceable but awaiting the works, so proved suitable both in length and buffer beam strength.

The first two to be trialled were 20099 + 20108 and they are seen here at Eastfield TMD Glasgow.
