There are so many factors that contribute to the colors of the sunset over the ocean. My preference is the ones that are softer, in more pastel shades. This moment was captured seconds after the sun no longer was visible using a long exposure with movement. The flocks of birds are a common sight at this glorious hour. It's as if they were gone for the day and now at sunset know it's time to head home. I never tire of this experience, and it's the perfect ending to any day.

Normally on a Wednesday, I run with two mates. One is in Europe following Le Tour, and one is in NY. It’s easy to get up at stupid o’clock when you know there are people waiting - today was a bit of an effort. I did send them this photo in our group chat as a metaphor :-)

200 Years is the time span between the Treaty of Georgievsk with which Georgia became a protectorate of Russia and the erection of the Gudauri Friendship monument. This is symbolized in the middle panel with Mother Russia and small George. The left side of the monument is the Georgian side and the right side the Russian one with respective symbols from history.

Less than 10 years later, the friendship was gone.
