Re-edit of the African Carder bee. I don't often re edit but I had to send it "elsewhere" for its initial ID and whilst zooming in and playing around with white balance I came upon this reproduction which has very much grown on me.

Today we had five species in the garden at the same time and several of each. I came inside after 10 minutes with photos of 3 butterflies, 5 bugs, 2 bees, 2 Hoverflies and a spider. Well pleased.

In my garden Stafford UK 4th September 2019

this is one of the 2 bee eater species found in sg. They breed here from march to jul and then migrate a short distance to Indonesia during which they'll be displaced by the blue-tailed bee-eater. The latter however do not breed here.

Seen here upon its return to its nest nearby.

(Photo 2 of 2) This "nuc" box is high up on top of the pergola in our orchard, we enlarged the entrance hole & I'm hoping to catch a swarm of Honey bees if a local colony decides to swarm. We sold our last 2 bee hives about 3 years ago but there were plenty of Honey Bees around the blossom these past few weeks so there are definitely bees in area.

When a colony swarms (usually in June) scout bees head out to find them a new home. This box has 5 old frames of honey comb & a swarm lure inside it to hopefully attract them in. I've just noticed the board we've put under as a landing board has warped so it will need turning over.

There has been some activity the past couple of days with up to a dozen bees checking out the box. If we do catch a swarm we'll let it settle in & then sell the colony in the nuc. The plan is to restart bee-keeping properly when we move to Wexford.

My previous photo shows the box in situ in our garden HBBBT!

This is the result of shooting for focus stacking with a live and moving Bumblebee. I really liked the way this turned out with the bee seeming to be 2 bees. I use Photoshop for the processing. Thank you for all the comments and faves.

This small water lily is a favourite of the native stingless bees, tetragonula carbonaria. It has a lot of pollen, so no doubt this is why they like it. One of the bees has legs laden with pollen.

"The hum of bees is the voice of the garden." if this voice is Shakespearian is to 'bee' seen.

This block was made for Superstahr as this month's Hip 2 Bee Square quilting bee block! We were requested to make wonky stars, trees or houses. The block measures about 11 by 12 inches.

I was inspired by this beautiful block: www.flickr.com/photos/70788325@N00/2919892462/

I made my own version with a *lot* of trial and error. I also added a few Heather Ross gnomes, who are resting under the shade of the tree! I still have some fabric leftover, and I hope to make a wonky house block next. Enjoy!

Finished! Made with blocks from the Hip 2 Bee Square Quilting Bee.

The branch they perched on is deliberately put up by photographers. Surprisingly, they loved it and used it as their regular vantage stop-over for its nest located in a nearby sand dune.

I plan to rearrange the squares to make them into a rectangle or square quilt shape, but I wanted to show you how they all look together. Thanks for so many amazing blocks!
