June 3rd, 1am. We are on the road, looking around for potentially good spots for some more astrophotos. In essence we are "chasing" the stars. While I was driving and the girls had their own small talk with several issues to resolve as usual, I spotted a small abandoned house on the side of the road, next to the sea. Literally next to the water with small waves breaking just in front of it. Quick stop and out to see what we got. Five minutes later we are all out there taking night photos of Hydra, the island across that beach! Seen and been there on this island several times in the past, but this time it was different. We were looking at the island and saw it like we had never seen it before! What can I say... We live in a tough world yet a magical one as well!!!

This image was taken around 1AM in Pebble Beach CA during a rare dry lightening storm on the Monterey Peninsula. After an hour of shooting in almost complete darkness with mixed results, I was ready to pack up and head home. "Just one more shot." I said to myself. This was the shot.

the high summer is the best time and probably the only time these near "Space" clouds can be seen at high latitudes . The sun is below the horizon but these clouds are still in sunlight.
A 1am alarm to make the Lake District and sunrise at Blea Tarn on my birthday no less! Never quite got any colour in the sky which was a sham as the Tarn was dead calm
Those who know me personally will know I have a little van and like to travel around the UK for my photography. I recently spent some time in Brecon and West Wales for just under two weeks. And I really loved spending time focusing on photography again. Just getting through some of the pictures now and so I have lots of wildlife and landscapes stories to come. :)
This Image is from the first night where I walked up Pen Y Fan. I set off at 1am and only reached the peak at 6am as I was too distracted taking pictures of the stars on the way up! But I was just in time for a beautiful sunrise. :) It was seriously an amazing walk in the night and would highly recommend to anyone.
Having some problems with photoshop at the moment and it seems to not work or crash when I'm using it anyone else having problems?

1am last night storms rolled in. I was happy it wasn’t completely rain filled. It gave me chance to capture the build up of this storm. Part of the sky was filled with stars and moon. The other half was lighting up a storm. I shot a few time lapses before it started hailing.
The remains of the wreckage of the trawler Admiral Von Tromp lie eviscerated on the slate rock bed of the Saltwick flats by Black Nab.
I had made my way here in the dark as the tide receded to its low point allowing access to the wreck. This was taken about 20 minutes before sunrise with a brooding sky capturing the mood and mystery of this wreck.
Why did a well equipped and crewed trawler from nearby Scarborough run aground here in good conditions in October 1976? It remains a mystery!
The von Tromp’s captain Frankie Taal and his crew set off from Scarborough Harbour at 1am, heading for the Barnacle Bank fishing grounds, some 45 miles north-east of the town.
He set the trawler’s course before going to bed, leaving experienced crewmate John Addison at the wheel.
But the skipper woke up to the vessel bumping and heeling.
It was foundering on the rocks of Black Nab, a location 90 degrees off course and notorious as the worst reef on the coast.
Mr Taal challenged Mr Addison, who appeared stunned and barely spoke. The weather had been fine, if foggy, the boat had enough fuel and they had been heading directly away from the coast.
According to a nautical surveyor who spoke at the subsequent inquest, even if the vessel had been left to its own devices, it would not have ended up on the rocks without human intervention.
Mr Addison drowned in the wheelhouse, washing up in Runswick Bay, and crewman George Eves died when he was swept off the roof by a large wave.
The captain was washed overboard but plucked from the water by the crew of the in-shore lifeboat.
Mr Addison’s post-mortem examination showed no traces of drugs or alcohol. But he had reportedly been overheard saying “Oh, Alan!” to another crew member in a quiet, apologetic voice during the events. Only he would no the truth of the events that night and that went with him to his grave!
at 1am even with the full moon the aurora was a brilliant sight and it was dancing for the rest of the night
It's 1am, she's missed the last train... she thinks it stopped running months ago.
Flit presses her finger to her lips and tells herself to hush, it's nice when it's quiet... in the dark...
when she can hear herself think, and type, and listen to the sounds of her youth broken apart and sewn back together in a romantic lull that rekindles some kind of nostalgic swooning.
Perhaps it's the lighting, but she's feeling comforted by her own loneliness. Is this what it will be like when all of the humans are gone and she's left to run out her battery lifespan?
She places the copy of Maddaddam by Margret Atwood down on the station bench and her hard-drives let out a whirl that mimicks the sound of a human sigh.
All I ever wanted, all I ever needed is here

On the way home from another 1am finish. The fog was freezing and there was ice on the ground. Nobody was out.
Not the best photo, but I need to make an announcement!
I'm going to France!
I don't speak any French and have never been to Europe, but I'm ecstatic :]
If anyone knows any cool shops, museums, or exhibitions in Paris that you don't think I'd find on my own, please leave it in the comments!
P.S. sorry for the lack of anything lately. I'll take some better stuff soon.
Its nearly 1am in Disko Bay in Greenland and the sun is low but won't set. The unusual light of pinks and blues reflects on the water runoff from surfacing humpbacks.
Greenland will never be for sale.
1am in the morning...check, dressing gown...check, really cold...double check. Cameras often show what could not normally be seen, and that is their magic.
my daddy passed away yesterday
January 04, 2010 at around 1am.
January 03:
daddy only had a few hours of sleep
the other night
he only fell asleep later that afternoon
so i decided not to disturb him.
it was around 9pm
i heard him calling my name
i went to him and told him
"dy, hahanda ko lang yung pagkain nyo ah."
he had about 2 tablespoons of rice
some slices of peaches
which is his favorite,
gelatine and glucerna.
dinner and meds is done.
he told me
that he wants to lie down
but all of a sudden
he holds my hands so tight,
his eyes rolling and
telling me that he can't breathe,
i told my mother that we have to rush daddy
to the hospital.
we're inside the car
i was beside him holding his hand
when he told me to get close to him
he just look at me straight in the eye
without saying anything.
we're almost near the hospital
when i saw him drew his last breath
i was trembling.
he was in ER
i pray and ask God:
"Dyos ko, ito na ba to?
ito na ba yun?
kukunin mo na ba daddy ko sa'min?
then tears stream down my face.
the doctor came to me
and she told me
that they're doing they're best
to revive my father.
how am i going to tell my mother?
i dunno how will she accept it
i told my self.
and the doctor told me:
"nag-flat line na daddy mo"
i went to my father
with the doctors and the nurses around him
and with all those apparatus
trying to revive him.
i saw daddy with tears in his eyes
i close his eyes
i felt a different kind of pain
that's hard to explain
i whisper to him
"daddy, i love you so much
i'll take care of mommy yo and kobe.
sorry coz
i'm not a good daughter to you
we all love you daddy.
kiss ate and diko for me.
i love you daddy
ba-bye daddy"
i kiss him
and then i hug him really really tight.
i will never ever forget his face
that very moment.
goodbye daddy, i love you so much !

This shot could be just one more lovely sunrise/sunset photo in my long series of such shots, however there is something special about it - the time - taken at 1AM ! I have already experienced those long days during summer months in Iceland, however there the sun actually sets for few hours (creating several hours long "blue hour"). The Norskehavet Bay is even more to the North (way above the arctic circle), the sun never sets there from end of May to end of July. This shot was taken during my first night of the day that never ended.
Experiencing never ending days is one thing but finding the right composition like this is another. I have spend some time searching on Google Earth to see where I could possibly find interesting location which is facing North. Although when you find a good location it doesnt guarantee that there will be interesting foreground. You really have to use the imagination and creativity. This shot is such an example. I didnt adjust the rope here, it is as it was found.
Timelapse movies had become my new way of capturing my travels besides regular photography. Check out how beautiful Scandinavia can be :

or
► NORTHERN LIGHTS BEYOND ARCTIC CIRCLE, SWEDEN

I was playing with my Laowa lens at 1am in Broken Arrows first good snow fall, maybe the third this season but nothing stuck on the other flurries.
1AM at the Park Avenue viewpoint- Arches National Park. You'd be surprised how many people were there at that time.
It's 1am here and Aaron is fast asleep in bed. I am wide awake so I figured I'd do some editing and post on here!! Its been a long time, but I feel totally refreshed and everything is finally falling into place. I've been in America visiting Aaron for the past week - its our year anniversary later this month, so he took me to disney world! we've had such a wonderful time, we have been doing our best to be healthy and happy, and to be honest, i'm pretty much the happiest i've ever been :)
So the plans for us right now, are (for this week) go see Ratatat in concert tomorrow night, then do lots of photography together and do lots of fun things. So far on Aarons list, he has me cleaning his car and doing the laundry :) We're also going to start looking at apartments to get together - hopefully i'll be moving here in July! We've been making our 1 and 5year plans - I'm thinking of maybe starting doing some wedding photography occasionally and taking some business classes so I have some know-how when it comes to running our own businesses. So as you can tell, things are starting to get pretty serious :)
This shoot was fun - Aaron set up the lights while my job was to snap bits of dogwood off (which is ALOT harder than you'd think) and arrange them in a bokehful composition. We've been taking loads of snaps on a point and shoot, which we'll post to our blog tomorrow some point.
Aaron is groaning in his sleep so i think its time for me to get to bed! Goodnight flickr, hope you are all doing really really well :)
The clouds just kept on giving.
Rarely have I seen such fine cumulus clouds over the Pacific Ocean during the night.
This is a 3 minute exposure, f/5.6, ISO 200. I reduced the saturation so it wouldn't have that "dayime" feel. It gets pretty dark at 1 am, but this scene is lit by the (almost) full moon.
The story starts here.
The beauty of photographing St. Petersburg at the tail end of white nights is you can go from sunset to blue hour, to dinner around 1am, back into blue hour, and straight into sunrise -- all before going to bed.
