This was a huge win for me today! I have been wanting to photograph a gyrfalcon for quite a long time. I have chased two 2 others ones reported in NJ over the years and failed miserably at even catching a glimpse of one. These birds are very rare in NJ. I was lucky enough to get multiple perch and flight shots of this fella today... quite a treat! Totally worth the 4 hour round trip. I might just go for him again tomorrow! Thanks for looking!

In preparation for my visit this year, a quick visit to the archives for this 2010 image of the F22 Raptor at the Royal International Air Tattoo.

This is a big crop from a long way away, on an old camera. There, that's the excuses out of the way...

To celebrate my recent promotion at work, and because I believe I'm worth it, I'm going to do RIAT properly this year and have just booked my FRIAT tickets (Mach 3). It'll be my first time in the FRIAT enclosure so I'm really looking forward to it!

How bout some Terraplane Blues.

I only knew that as a song written by the old blues singer Robert Johnson. I had a Foghat album and they did the song.

Terraplane was built by Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroit from 1932-1938. I'd never seen one.

On Tuesday 8/3/2022, 1451s (empty 1D grain to Bowmans) is seen approaching Gawler River road (between Two Wells-Virginia, SA) with clp17-alf24 in charge.

This was the first empty grain to run in the early evening this grain season, if only the lesser used but more photogenic GM46 had replaced regular grain loco clp17 on the lead.

I took an unplanned drive out to Gros Cap the other day to relax and unwind after a busy day at work. Not a lot was happening that evening, weather and lighting wise, but I was okay with that. I did capture this one long exposure for fun while I was out there, as it's been forever since I last put the Lee Big Stopper to work. It felt great getting out, so hopefully this is the first of many evenings out with the camera.

My Zorki 1D with some books related to this camera:

- "Poradnik fotografa wojskowego" / "Military Photographer's Guide" by Jan Mierzanowski - quite unique book published in Warsaw in 1954. The cover image, which looks like a heavily retouched photo, shows a soldier holding a Leica camera or Soviet copies of it.

- "Fotografujemy Zorką" / "We photograph with Zorki" by Wacław Żdżarski (pronounced: "zh-dzh-arski) which was photographer of polish underground army (Armia Krajowa) during Warsaw uprising. Back then he was using German Leica's, so he knew much about Zorkis - "poor mans Leica".
