A 4-image stitched panorama in perspective view. It isn't perfect, took some effort to touch up what I could. But I like the lines as it reminds me of scenes from Inception. Captured with a Sigma 19mm f/2.8 EX DN.

I was fortunate enough to attend a Macro Workshop given by Adam Jones & Mike Matthews. A good friend was unable to attend due to health issues so she let me go in her place. Thank you Jan. I did not know I was going and I did not have a Ring Light and the only flash I had was a very small flash that came with my camera which was not very powerful. I went to my local camera store and they didn't have anything that would work with my camera. So, I had to work with what I had. Consequently, I had to almost touch the frogs to have enough light and this caused deep shadows. I had to crop in pretty close to get rid of the shadows. I'm just extremely happy I got to attend the class and got the photo's I did. It was a wonderful experience! Thank you Jan and Jack. Thanks Jack for letting me ride with you.

While visiting Viñales last time I was able to enjoy a wonderful tour with a friend around the small mountains and trails of this region.

We walked all the way and the combination of warm temperatures and cloudy day made our journey a great opportunity to explore.

Every time I visit Viñales in Pinar del Rio I found a new way to say thanks.

Union Park in the South End was gorgeous yesterday. This was with Sony a6000 and Sigma 19mm lens.

I did get a few shots I really like, including this one, but I feel like I'm always amazed at the beautiful shots of brownstones and trees I see on Instagram from beacon hill, back bay, south end, etc... and then when I go there, I have a really hard time framing good shots or finding the right streets or something, and I'm always disappointed. Any tips from experts for photographing those neighborhoods?

(Yesterday, I think my mistake was spending too long at Union Park instead of exploring more... it gets dark so early now! But still, I'm often frustrated at trying to shoot the classic Boston neighborhoods and I can't quite put my finger on why.)

Union Park in the South End last Sunday. It was a dark and gloomy overcast day but I’ve learned that that’s actually all the better for bringing out the fall foliage colors, and I’m so glad I went out and explored that day.

This was shot with my new 19mm Sigma lens on my Sony a6000. I’m happy with this lens - the photos seem sharp even around the edges of the frame, and the aperture goes wider than the kit lens. It did seem to sometimes be a bit slower to autofocus than the sony lenses (at least on a dark winter afternoon), but since I was using it for landscape type stuff it wasn’t a big deal. The 19mm on the 1.5 crop sensor gives me a field of view that’s just about the same as the field of view on the iPhone 6s camera, so its a nice fov for me that I’m very much used to composing with. Overall, I think this is the prime lens I’m probably going to be using the most to replace the kit zoom lens for the landscape/cityscape scenes I like to shoot.
