She was one of the greatest loves of my life. She was my once in a lifetime dog and friend. This was her in all of her wondrous glory back in 1997 on a week long backpacking trip into Algonquin Provincial Park. If you look closely you can see her bear bell around her neck. She was quite young here and lived to be 15 years old and still continues to live deep within my heart.
The information says taken on November 29th 2020 however that is when I took a photo of the original photo which was taken back in 1997.

Since its opening, The Venetian Macao is now the largest casino in the world, beating The Venetian, Las Vegas.
In April 1996, Sheldon Adelson announced plans to create on the property the largest resort on the Strip. This project would be situated on the former Sands property. On November 26, 1996, eight years after it was purchased by the owners of The Interface Group—Adelson, Richard Katzeff, Ted Cutler, Irwin Chafetz and Jordan Shapiro, the Sands Hotel was imploded to make way for The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. Groundbreaking for the hotel began on April 14, 1997.
The resort opened on May 3, 1999, with flutter of white doves, sounding trumpets and singing gondoliers, with actress Sophia Loren joining The Venetian Chairman and Owner, Sheldon G. Adelson, in dedicating the first motorized gondola. Built at a cost of $1.5 billion, it was one of the most expensive resorts of its kind when it opened.
On June 27, 2003, the 1,013-room Venezia Tower opened. It was built on top of the garage parking lot.
in 2010, it was announced that it will be affiliated with InterContinental Hotels Group.[2]
In October 2011, the Cantor Race & Sportsbook opened, which was the only Las Vegas sportsbook that was open 24 hours a day. On June 11, 2012, the Venetian opened Carnevale, a summer-long festival that is anchored by a nightly 3-D projection show on the clock tower. In September 2012, The Blue Man Group show closed and relocated to the Monte Carlo, after being at the Venetian for six years.
The hotel uses Venice, Italy, as its design inspiration and features architectural replicas of various Venetian landmarks, including the Palazzo Ducale, Piazza San Marco, Piazzetta di San Marco, the Lion of Venice Column and the Column of Saint Theodore, St Mark's Campanile, and the Rialto Bridge. The design architects for this project were The Stubbins Associates and WAT&G

Going through old photos is awesome. Found some old prints with their negatives last night and gave the negs a fresh a scan. This is from Wyoming back in 1997. I'm surprised that I took pretty okay photos as a ten year old from time to time! I can't recall what camera this was. It likely would have been my Samsung 105GL, but if it didn't have it yet in 97 it was probably a plastic fantastic of some sort.

The tradition of having fireworks display to celebrate China National Day started since the handover of Hong Kong to China in 1997. We went up to The Peak to avoid the huge crowd along Victoria Harbour.

The clock is installed in a Renaissance arch crossing the Rue du Gros-Horloge. The mechanism is one of the oldest in France, the movement was made in 1389. Construction of the clock was started by Jourdain del Leche who lacked the necessary expertise to finish the task, so the work was completed by Jean de Felain, who became the first to hold the position of governor of the clock.
The clock was originally constructed without a dial, with one revolution of the hour-hand representing twenty-four hours. The movement is cast in wrought iron, and at approximately twice the size of the Wells Cathedral clock, it is perhaps the largest such mechanism still extant.[1] A facade was added in 1529 when the clock was moved to its current position. The mechanism was electrified in the 1920s and it was restored in 1997.
The Renaissance facade represents a golden sun with 24 rays on a starry blue background. The dial measures 2.5 metres in diameter. The phases of the moon are shown in the oculus of the upper part of the dial. It completes a full rotation in 29 days. Phone camera copy of a 35mm B&W print I made in 1997. It was raining a little and at the time there were only 2 or 3 other people there. I seem to recall they took cover behind one of the archs' legs to escape the rain.
After trying to stay warm in my waders since about 3am, I figured that the high barometer had taken it's toll on any activity that may have taken place. The golden sun broke the horizon under bluebird sky's and dead calm breeze and it was time to hang it up this frosty morning. As I slowly waded away from the spillway toward the shoreline, I thought that one more try in the faster current couldn't hurt anything, so I took the biggest bluegill from my bait bucket (about 10" in length)and rigged it up. With a short lob cast, the bluegill hit the water and took off for open water like a shot. It didn't get but a few feet when the water boiled with a violent eruption as this beast turned that big Bluegill into breakfast. With my knees knocking and heart pounding at the sight of what just took place and what was about to happen, I took up the line slack and put the medium heavy St. Croix rod to the test. The big toothy critter felt the sting of the hook and took to the air like a Barracuda. After a battle of wits for about twenty minutes with the big Muskellunge, she gave in and a successful hand landing took place. The brute topped the scale at nearly 38 pounds and 52" in length. I did keep the Muskie, maybe out of pure excitement and the vision of fish fry's for the next several months. She was the last big Muskie that I removed from a body of water. That final day of October 1997 is burned so deep into my mind that when the leaves start to fall and the north winds begin to howl, I head for the waters to find the king of freshwater fish and partake in it's mystique.
