I had absolutely nothing to do on Thanksgiving Day, 1994. I had no family around, and received only a couple of halfhearted invitations from roommates after they realized that I had no place to go. Why crash someone else's family event when there's railfanning to be done! I got up early with no real plan, but immediately lucked into a Conrail Popes Creek coal load getting ready to depart Benning Yard in Washington DC. I spent the day chasing and had dinner at a Taco Bell that was thankfully open. Conrail and a Chilito turned out to not be such a bad way to spend the holiday.
In this view, year and a half old SD60M 5530 leads its train off of the Northeast Corridor and onto the Popes Creek Secondary at Bowie, MD.
Early 90s 216 seen in Enfield, i've only ever seen one other in this colour scheme which looks great, this one has an MOT and has done 55k miles.
Oldie but a goodie. Freestyle painted in 1994 with Chen under the south Minneapolis Tracks. This piece was really significant at the time and was a relatively different style then people were used to seeing in Minneapolis. I basically rocked a piece in what I consider to be a style in the culture of Cali graffiti at the time. It wasn't as good as what I was used to seeing but I was so infuenced at the time by writers that I had grown up admiring like Risky, Power, Slick, Hex, Dream (L.A.), Green and Charlie that it came out in my style. Originally, I painted with Chen but he never finished and I did. Funny thing is, while painting this, I had a younger writer (now a famous T.C. writer) and his Mom, stand behind me and watch me and ask me questions the whole time. I didn't mind. At them time, I was just flattered to have anyone take notice. Also, when I came back a few days later to try to get a photo, I didn't realize that there was a group of people sitting up on the embankment behind the wall. When I took the photo, I heard some people start screaming and yelling at me. I began to walk away and noticed that a small mob had decided to attempt to snatch my camera and jump me. As they approached, I took off running to gain a distance on them. I figured I had a better shot at fighting one or two that followed before the rest caught up. I ran about 10 blocks with some of them on my tail. I finally stopped when it was me and only one other dude. I grabbed the biggest rock I could find and quickly turned and started to go for him. As I got about 5 feet away, he realized that he was alone and that I had now become the aggressor and he stopped dead in his tracks. I think that he had thought that I would be afraid of him. With a giant rock in my hand, I wasn't afraid of shit. He paused and I started to threaten him. He couldn't understand me because he only spoke Spanish but knew I meant business. Right about then, a female approached and intervened. She stated, "He thought you were trying to take a picture of us. We are homeless and drug addicts. We were using drugs and he thought you took a picture of us. Don't hurt him." I told her to tell him I was only taking pictures of my graffiti. She did. He quickly changed his demeaner and when I saw him change to a nonaggressive attitude, I put the rock down. We clearly had a stand off that was based off of a misunderstanding. He looked me over and then they turned and walked back to join their group and I climbed the bridge embankment I was at and went home. It was A really intense sitiuation and I am glad that nothing bad ended up happening. It could have been bad on both our ends. Crazy times!
The last city I visited in my 1994 Europe trip was Munich. I took this in a museum there. I have literally no knowledge of the picture in this photo. I'm grateful if someone let me know about this. She looks Patti.

Giew Mine lies alongside the B3311 road linking Penzance and St. Ives. The surviving engine house next to the 225m deep Frank's shaft on the western flank of Trink Hill in Towednack Parish.
The mine is known to have been working from the mid-eighteenth century. In its time Giew has been known as Gew, Reeth Consols, Trink and St. Ives Consols. The remaining buildings cantered around Frank's Shaft are only the easternmost of a number of shafts all working the area.
The engine house dates from 1874 as can be seen above the arched window. This was part of the re-working of Giew Mine started in 1869 by Thomas Treweeke.
Other shafts, running from east to west include Blackburn's, Robinsons Engine, Martins, Ladock Shaft and Giew Engine Shaft where it joined Billia Consols Mine.
In 1908 Giew Mine was taken over by St Ives Consolidated Mines Ltd, whose main workings included Wheal Trenwith, and others, two miles to the north. In 1917, the Thermo Electric Corporation that had taken over the group in 1915 abandoned all but Wheal Giew, which continued in production through the period of depression following the Great War (1914-18); it was the only active tin producer in the years 1921-22.
During the final working of the mine electric power was used and the engine house was converted into an ore bin.
Giew mine closed in 1923. In 1994 extensive consolidation / conservation of the landmark Frank’s Shaft engine house was undertaken.

Four Santa Fe Dash 9s (yes, 4 of them) lead M-GALCHI east through Toluca, IL. Other than a few alterations, it's almost like it's 1994 again.

We began our operation in 1994, within months of the passage of legislation allowing brewpub operation in the great state of Texas. We found a public eagerly awaiting the enjoyment of our cold, freshly brewed beers. Long before the craft beer craze we were cranking out delicious award winning brews. As the oldest operating brewpub in the state, you could call us the "granddaddy" of brewpubs in Texas. We are located on Main Street Fredericksburg, Texas. In our fair little town, sidewalk consumption is allowed; you can take our cold craft brews on a sidewalk stroll down Main, fill a growler to take home or sit down with us and enjoy a brew paired with lunch or dinner... whatever suits your fancy. Our Brewpub serves German fare, pizza, burgers, salads and everything in between. The Brewery sits in a restored 1890s era building. In addition to its main room, the brewery has a large, air-conditioned biergarten. The second floor of the building provides "Bed & Brew" guest rooms, 12 rooms (one on ground level), each decorated in a different theme. We hope you'll join us soon.
Our Brewers brew more than 20 different varieties throughout the year, rotating our staples (Peacepipe Pale Ale, Enchanted Rock Red Ale, Not So Dumb Blonde Ale, Pioneer Porter) as well as seasonal selections. You'll find at least 5 selections (usually more) on tap for your enjoyment any time you stop in. Street consumption is legal on Main Street Fredericksburg, making The Brewery a must-see in Fredericksburg's downtown historic district. Sit at the bar and watch the brewers at work while you sip your brew, or take your beer to go and stroll the shops on Main.
We take great pride in offering a consistent product and that doesn't happen by chance. Our beer is brewed from quality malt, yeast and hops by experienced and passionate brewers. From the dining room in our brewpub you can see much of the brewing equipment and often times watch our brewers at work.
