This is one of my first photos, year 1979, whenever I see it, I think of "The Innocent Saints" by Miguel Delibes. A long wait... in an old train station.

Seen fairly local to me and not one i'd come across before, really cool looking late 70s 5 series, looked a but rusty around the edges but not as bad as you'd expect.
Untaxed since December 1995, the last recorded V5 change was April 1994.
JT is a Bournemouth plate, which is where this car was seen.
The Reliant Scimitar name was used for a series of sports car models produced by British car manufacturer Reliant between 1964 and 1986. During its 22-year production it evolved from a coupe (GT) into a sports estate (GTE), with a convertible variant (GTC) launched in 1980. All have a fibreglass body mounted on a steel box-section chassis, and Ford engines.
This 3-litre 1979 Reliant Scimitar, DNK16T, was seen at Bidford Classic Wings and Wheels on 15th September 2024.

It must have been extremely well cared for having covered 237,000 miles at its last MOT in 2013 with an almost perfect history.
A very rare car.
Railfans in the Allentown, Pennsylvania area got a nice treat in July 1979, when three relatively scarce Santa Fe GP40X’s spent a few days in eastern Pennsylvania. Here the trio has brought a westbound train into one of the receiving tracks, and now proceed over the hump at Allentown yard.
